FVAFS: Basil Exposition

In the chapter where Zoey encounters the reclamation workers, the character Cesar serves very little purpose other than to give Zoey exposition.

In reading his character, I could only imagine everything he was saying being done by Michael Pena, a la his character Luis in Ant Man.

Too much exposition was a general problem here. Far too many "sit around a room drinking whiskey talking about a plan" scenes ground the action to a halt.

I kept expecting Cesar to return to the story, and was disappointed when he didn't.

There were also these little moments when a character would be sharing some little anecdote that would serve as a flag for upcoming action. For Example. (view spoiler)[ the weird references to Lord of the Rings, or Will's magic coin trick (hide spoiler)]. Each one of these little stories seem to spoil parts of the plot for me.
