Howdy, Emily!

Glad that you could find our group and are interested in our Someone Else Pick It Activity. This one is already underway, but in our new group spot we are setting up the next Someone Else Pick It activity for February. Here's the link if you want to check out the 2017 group and participate in the challenge and Someone Else Pick It: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Mary | 452 comments Emily,if you'd like to name 5/6 books that you'd have posted for the Someone Pick It For Me list, then I'll gladly pick a book for you to read,as long as Sophia has no objections.
You'll have until Dec.31st to read it,so what do you think?

No objections, Mary. Thanks for offering. :) More the merrier and I'd love to see Emily get to participate.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Welcome, Emily! So glad you decided to give our group a try! You'll be happy to know that about every 2 or 3 months we have a "Someone Pick It For Me" month. Lots of opportunities throughout the year to participate even if you don't decide to get in on it this month.

Sorry this didn't float your boat, Ahnya. I saw your review. I loved all the humor in it, but I can understand why you didn't care for it. (Though IDK about the whole San Francisco Giants thing. Being on the East coast, I can't relate to that at all!)

message 158: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 277 comments Welcome Emily. Glad to have you on board. You'll have lots of fun here with this gang!

message 159: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Emily, welcome aboard. If you want someone to pick a book for you, I would be happy to do the honors. We are pretty flexible here. You can post a list of your books or send me a personal message. Either way... we'll get you a book. And like Teresa said, we have a lot of fun here.

Emily (biblioblondes) | 7 comments Aw thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm so excited!!!
I have this weird problem where it almost takes me longer to pick a book then to actually read it.

message 161: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments I think we can all relate to that particular problem, but whenever you're ready post them here and we'll choose one for you!

Emily (biblioblondes) | 7 comments Okay here it goes...
1. Fitzwilliam Darcy: A Honorable Man
2. Mr. Darcy's Proposal
3. The Last Waltz
4. Then Comes Winter
5.Drive and Determination
6. The Houseguest

message 163: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Emily, simply because I loved this story when u read it,I choose Fitzwilliam Darcy,An Honourable Man.

Emily (biblioblondes) | 7 comments Awesome! I have been very intrigued by it and it was my #1 choice. Thank you so much!

Mary | 452 comments * when I read it*

Hope you enjoy it Emily. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on it!

message 166: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments More than welcome!

Emily (biblioblondes) | 7 comments I read some reviews and I heard a few say it was clean (i.e no sex and stuff) but I also read some where it mentions only for mature audiences. I like to stay on the clean side... Will I be pretty safe with Fitwilliam Darcy An Honorable Man?

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Mary wrote: "Emily, simply because I loved this story when u read it,I choose Fitzwilliam Darcy,An Honourable Man."

That is such a good story. Loved it - read it twice!

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Emily, that one is on my wish-list, so I will be glad to hear your thoughts on it.

It's been a while since I read it, but I'm pretty sure there's no explicit sex. It's very melodramatic, so you have to be willing to suspend disbelief with the less plausible story elements, but it's definitely entertaining.

Emily (biblioblondes) | 7 comments Thanks Debbie for your help! I am really excited for the book. I love a good gothic type romance, especially with Darcy as the hero! I just prefer to keep my romances clean if I can. However I do love good kissing scenes!

message 173: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Emily-another choice for you is Drive and determination. I've read this one too and thought it very good. Hope both books are an enjoyable read. Looking forward to reading your thoughts!

You'll love this book, then. Darcy is in full on "hero"/save the damsel in distress mode!

You guys amaze me at your ability to remember and discuss all the variations. To be totally honest, I have a very hard time keeping one Darcy and Elizabeth story straight in my mind from another. I suppose if I was more diligent about writing reviews I would better remember them, but I am always so just in the moment that it has to be something really different for me to be able to remember it enough to recommend it to someone. Or to warn them off....lol The fact that you can keep them separate just amazes me!

message 176: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments They blur together at times for me too. But the best ones stand out and are unforgettable. I do write reviews to help me remember, even those which are unpublished but also are not allowed to be posted on Goodreads.

message 177: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments I don't remember all of them, Barb. That happens to be a book I read multiple times before JAFF just seemed to explode open with new books constantly being realeased. It also has a fairly memorable plot, as outrageous as it is. Like Sheila, I started forcing myself to write reviews for everything to help me remember.

message 178: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments All of Kara Louise's books are enjoyable and totally without any MA scenes.

message 179: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 277 comments Deborah forgot to put in that I finished the book you picked for me and I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much.

message 180: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Teresa, I finally finished The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen. I loved the concept and the whole storyline surrounding Jane Austen and time travel, but I found the two romances lacking. Thank you for picking it for me- I'm truly glad I read it because what I liked about it was REALLY good. I've got to believe there's a sequel and, if there is, I'll want to read it.

Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Hey Rosa, I have finished your pick for me and because I accidentally listed a book two, that forced me to read book one first. So, I cleared off two from my TBR pile. Thanks and have a great rest of this old year. Blessings to you and your family. Thanks for participating.

Teresa | 277 comments Debbie wrote: "Teresa, I finally finished The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen. I loved the concept and the whole storyline surrounding Jane Austen and time travel, but I found the two romance..."

Glad you liked some of it Debbie. Having read your review I realise there are parts of it I didn't quite get either. As well as no need for him, Roger was a tool!! I hope there is a sequel else it will be a pointless ending.

message 183: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Well, yes, and how does Jane know about Dr. Trevellyan and that he's an archaeologist? She's never met him, and Rose doesn't talk about him with her. Unless she's traveled into the future beyond the present....

I think I'm getting a headache trying to figure this out!

No argument about Roger being a tool. That's what makes me think he's Wickham-esque with more deviltry to follow, assuming there's a sequel.

I only got 4 hours of sleep the night I wrote that review. In hindsight I probably should have waited a couple of days. Thinking back I think I had a hard time relating to the character.

message 185: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments It's been a while since I read it, but I do recall thinking that for a single mom with two kids, there was very little about her home life or the kids. I don't remember much about her character specifically one way or the other. I just got so much enjoyment out of reading the sessions with the other wacky writers and their various idiosyncrasies, and also there's the airport scene where Lizzie is drunk because she's so nervous about flying and she first meets William, who's obviously less than impressed. Those elements realy tickled my funny bone and sold me on the rest of the story.

I liked those things as well. I think Charlotte and Elton were my favorite characters. The stuffed dog alter ego was a hoot.

Thanks for picking me a winner, Barb.

Loved Intrigue in Highbury. I hope to get to the next book in the series in the new year.

message 190: by Victoria (new)

Victoria I made it! Through a busy December I was able to finish Longbourn! Despite my misgivings I was able to really enjoy it. The characterization of the Bennets (and Darcy) didn't really bother me because it wasn't as if they were friends with their servants.

My review is here. Thanks Sophia!

Deborah | 55 comments I am such a dunderhead. Things have been so insane that I forgot to post and update. I loved Mr. Bennet's Dutiful daughter and finished it in mid December, the 21st to be exact. Will post a review soon. I loved the story. Thank you so much for choosing it for me, Victoria.
