Those were two books I didn't finish, I need to dig them out.

Félix (habitseven) To me, cottage cheese is not food.

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments Holy crap, I didn't read this thread very well, it's like a food fight up there.

Don't put that stuff in front of me, please.

message 157: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's fine. As long as I don't have to look at it.

message 161: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Quick! Take a picture of that!

message 162: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherjoy) | 384 comments Cottage cheese is merely an ingredient to lasagna and strawberry salad, imo...

message 163: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not my lasagna, Heather. It's ricotta or nada, pour moi.

message 164: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherjoy) | 384 comments I use ricotta and cottage cheese. I'm southern, we are all about cheese products.

message 165: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Lasagna with peaches = bleah.

message 170: by Heidi (last edited Jul 31, 2009 09:44AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I'm not a fan of cottage cheese with sweet stuff - I prefer it with tomatoes... or fresh dill and chopped garlic. I also like it scrambled with egg whites and fresh parsley (the curds melt like any other cheese).

message 171: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments I did not know that, sounds like a very guilt free yummy pleasure Heidi

message 172: by Heidi (last edited Jul 31, 2009 10:01AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments A couple of teaspoons is all you need, and you'll have the yummiest scrambled egg whites (I don't eat yolks, but I assume they work with whole eggs, too) you've ever eaten.

message 173: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments I will have to try that, I am off to feed my bird, Lilly, then mow the yard, to much fun for one!

I once put this container of pineapple and cottage cheese into a lasagna by accident. It was not good.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Bleah! What a thing to do to an innocent lasagna!

I'm with Bunny. Ricotta is for lasagna, along with mozzarella and some parmesan.
And now, my mouth is watering. I love lasagna!

message 176: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) As do I, Jackie.

message 177: by Sarah (last edited Jul 31, 2009 10:42AM) (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Hang on there...I just realized that if you substitute egg noodles, you're veering toward an egg kugel.

Cottage cheese, farmer's cheese, egg noodles, cinammon, eggs, sour cream. Some people put it raisins, some put in pineapple, some avoid the fruit...
Regardless, it's delicious.

message 178: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Just make sure you don't put cottage cheese in there Sarah Pi.

message 179: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments It's in there, but it's hidden, Larry.

message 180: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Can't get it by me. I have a foolproof detector.

I think saying "I didn't say 'That's what she said'" is as bad as saying it.

In my humblest opinion, that is.

Sarah | 13814 comments BunWat wrote: "Yup. Sweet noodle kugel.

Or possibly trifle. Which is layers of fruit, cream, cake, custard, chocolate sprinkles...booze.... urrrrr. "

I haven't seen many episodes of Friends, but I think there was one where Jennifer Aniston was trying to cook, and the pages for "trifle" and "tripe" got stuck together, and she wound up making a trifle with fruit, cream, beef, custard... or something like that.

message 187: by Lori (new)

Lori Well let's face it - Larry did say it by not saying it!

I've had that several times at the local Jewish Food Festival (no raisins) - oh my stars, it's HEAVENLY!... as were the cheese blintzes and the kreplach and the strudel and the latkes and the hamantash and the, and the, and the... :D

message 195: by Heidi (last edited Jul 31, 2009 12:06PM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments :) Sometimes when I go to food festivals, I wish my mother cooked ethnic food when I was growing up because I have no doubt she'd make some kick ass dolmas or blintzes or chicken scampi or paneer nan or thai curry coconut fish... But NOOOO, she had to go and be Cajun and cook LOTS of crustaceans... and I don't EAT crustaceans. :( I grew up eating lots of broth and rice. Heck, she didn't even cook pot roast.

Red Beans and Rice is my automatic/comfort food. That or tuna noodle casserole.

What does that say about me?

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments OH!!! I forgot about red beans and rice - Mom can make some damgoode red beans & rice. I LOOOOVE red beans & rice.

Sally, I think it means you're good in my book. Carry on.

Sarah | 13814 comments I don't mind being collected. That way you can put all the important stuff about me (musical taste, rugby teams, favorite foods) into the robot me you will need to build if I ever disappear for real. Robot me would only be a mediocre vampire slayer though, and prone to short circuiting. Plus it wouldn't be as quick with a witty riposte.
