Alexis | 265 comments I have some good news too. A lot of people are really liking my cover so much so that I'm feeling even more pressure about the actual content. But it's good pressure. :)

And I managed to reach 60 likes on FB. I want to reach 200 likes before release date and we're getting there slowly but surely lol!

Marie Silk | 611 comments My good news:

A couple months ago, I joked to an author friend that I would die of old age before my book reached 50 reviews on Amazon. Over the weekend, my book received its 50th Amazon review. So that was awesome :D.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments J.C, That is great news! Yippee!!

Alexis, Good luck with your author profile!

Marie, Congratulations on your accomplishment!!

Great news, Faith! I love awards, especially when someone we know wins. Nice to know you!! Solid advice from Alex.

Twice while completely alone today I let my emotions out. The first, I laughed until I hurt. The second, I cried my eyes out.

This is what I needed today.

Owen O'Neill (owen_r_oneill) | 1509 comments Glad people are having good things happen in their lives.

On my end, a bunch of good things happened today.
We ran a promo over the weekend (it ended yesterday) and it went better than expected.

Two weeks ago (tomorrow), we released our first book in almost 2 years and it's doing better than expected.

I bought a new printer to replace our old decrepit one. It cost less than I expected and it was easier to set up than I expected.

I was forced to give up my old much beloved cell phone (I've had it for 10+ years) because the network won't support 2G phones anymore. I was given a free replacement, and it's working out better than expected (however much I hate to admit that).

Said new phone made me laugh until I hurt myself. I didn't expect that at all.

The weather here today was gorgeous and ... better than expected.

It's my co-author's birthday. (I did expect that.) She's on a trip which is going ... (you fill in that part).

I spent the morning with my best friend. That was entirely expected and better by far than all the rest put out together and then some.

Other good and/or great things happened today. But overall, my day was ... ;-)

Groovy Lee Something good happened to me, people. I got two good reviews for one of my books. And if you're like me, that creates a big, happy smile that will be glued to your face for the rest of the day!

Amazon sucks! My buys are supposed to be secret. It wasn't a Support-A-Fellow-Author-2-be-kind buy. I downloaded the Amazon sample and liked it. Will be reading and reviewing soon.

message 78: by Alexis (last edited Nov 10, 2016 01:21PM) (new)

Alexis | 265 comments So.

I've had a bit of an intense last 24 hours. I'm a very idealistic person and the state of the world and what I feel we're heading towards had me growing a bit weary and disillusioned. (No, I'm not going political on you guys, I swear lol. This is leading to something.)

But believe it or not, feeling so down and blue and thinking about all that headache-inducing stuff led to me FINALLY figuring out how to end my book because I FINALLY (did I mention finally) figured out what the main conflict of my story is.

I have the meet cute.
The romance.
The sex scenes.

And I love the interaction between my characters but I was missing the conflict, the tension. I THOUGHT I had it figured out, but I was wrong. However I finally figured it out last night.

It will require major rewrites to the story but hey, nothing good comes easy. :)

So that's my something [bleep] awesome that happened today.

Even authors with huge budgets don't catch them all. Not saying we shouldn't all strive to deliver top notch work, but sh** happens right? I caught my favorite romance writer repeating the same sentence two times in a chapter a couple of days ago lol.

But yeah, fingers crossed. X

Isn't it amazing how you can write and write and still not be clear about the central conflict? Happy you found yours! I found mine after years of working at it. Yea!

I sent an email to Java Creek Cafe today, the place where I actually do most of my writing these days, telling them what a fantastic coffee shop they have and how wonderful the employees are. I got a nice email back from the owner, telling me he's going to pass on my compliments.

message 86: by Christina (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) I had both cookies and ice cream today. Yes, I am thrilled by the same things that thrill five year olds and I am proud of this.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Dwayne - Very nice of you to take the time to send that message to the coffee shop. Too often people only take the time to write when they have something to complain about. Hugs!!

Christina - Also have the mind of a 5-year-old, I'm with you!! Hugs!!

Thanks! They are pretty cool if I may say so myself. I've also made two covers for books I haven't even written yet, lol. I hope these writing blues pass soon though. ^_^

How is the fire and ice promotion going?
