That's a toughy. Falling behind because I'm headed to Chicago for a victory celebration and can't concentrate on anything. Going for 7.
I read 7. My favorites were A Lost Lady by Willa Cather and Kokoro by Sōseki Natsume. Both were strong 5 -star reads.

The writing. I dog-eared more pages of passages I wanted to reread or post as updates than I can recall identifying as special in any other book Inread this year. Reading some background prior to starting and being aware of its significance in Japanese literature also made me a more careful and engaged reader than I might otherwise have been.
I read 13 but 3 were plays, 2 were middle grade kids books, and 1 was reading a Harry Potter book just because. My two favorites were Keepers of the House by Shirley Ann Grau and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg.
My favorite book last month was Island Beneath the Sea by Isabelle Allende. I'm not sure it would have been a favorite without being a group read. The group really enhanced the reading pleasure for me.
