You let me know John what you think of David Starkey and his speaking.

Thanks for the recommendation!
I've picked up another book yesterday in a secondhand bookstore!
Anne Boleyn by P. Friedmann. (Sorry I can't link as I'm typing on the phone app).
It's a bargain! Hardcover and doesn't even look read at all! Not sure what it's like but I'll give it a whirl!
I've added Ives to my list!

WOW!

I love them both, they're both synced with my books, but I tend to use the fire now, and my husband takes the older one when he goes away with work.

I'm enjoying the book, but I do get the impression that Alison doesn't like Anne particularly. The only references she ever used are from Eustace Chapuys who we all know hated Anne with a passion.
Maybe this is due to lack of other evidence at the time but compared to her 'Lady in The Tower' book she's really not painting Anne in a good light.

Her own family condemned her to save their own skins/prospects.
However in this book, so far I'm yet to find something likeable about her!
I'll read other books too as I do think this is very one sided so far. Weir appears to adore KOA and is really tearing AB apart!

That aside, I'm enjoying the book, and look forward to reading more about the other wives!

I just find the change in tone between her 2 books interesting. KOA was well loved in this country, and AB was not well received at all.
Maybe it's because in this book Weir looks at all wives, and Lady In The Tower focused purely on Anne's downfall that I'm seeing the difference? Who knows.

What I do find unfortunate is how quickly she was cast aside after their marriage. It was a massive anti-climax to their courtship!

I really felt for her! A true innocent!

Skye : that's also correct, Anne and George were accused of having an incestual relationship. The film The Other Boleyn Girl hints at it too. I believe George's wife, Jane Parker gave some incriminating evidence against them? Then she ended up meeting the same fate 6 years later for her part in Katherine Howard's antics!

I think she was most likely foul tempered, a bit mean, over ambitious etc, but I don't believe she was guilty of what she was accused of.

Katharine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, ? and Catherine Paar.
