Police Chief Sam Jenkins has had to deal with a lot in his career in Prospect, TN, but nothing compares to the mess he finds himself in now. Forced to hire the nephew of a corrupt politician, Sam is pleasantly surprised to find his new hire, Dallas Finchum, to be an honest and hardworking deputy. When a young woman claims to have been raped by Dallas three years previous, Sam must investigate.

This story runs the gamut; police corruption, political corruption, extortion, kidnapping and murder. This is the most complicated Sam Jenkins story to date, and it’s not just the investigation that’s complicated, but the personal issues that arise could be the end of Sam’s marriage and the end of certain friendships he holds dear.

As usual, Wayne Zurl has done a superb job with his latest Sam Jenkins tale. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book and I’m anxious to read how Sam survives it all in the next book.
