“Simply by existing.” Francisco confirmed with a small smile, reaching over to take her hand in his. It was no secret what he felt for her- love. He had known from the moment they met, despite being children, that she was his soul mate. That he’d do everything and anything in his power to make her happy. But it wasn’t until after his talk with Vanessa that he realized he hadn’t been giving it his all.

"Well I'm not going to stop doing that just so you study so I guess you win," Fire half teased with a small smile in return. Lately he'd seemed so...mushy but she couldn't say she complained about it. It was definitely the sweet kind of mushy.

“That’s one point for Kyuusho…” He replied jokingly, leaning over the table to give her a kiss. “I think we’ve done enough studying for tonight. You?”

She gave a small laugh. "Yeah...I guess that's enough for today," she agreed, not so reluctantly. "Do you want to go out to eat or...stay in?" She could go either way. They each had some snacks stashed away which wasn't a whole meal but it was sustainable.

“Stay in.” He replied, since he didn’t really feel like going out. Unless she preferred to- which he didn’t mind. “Unless… did you want to go out for some dinner?”

"I'd rather order something and get it delivered," she answered, though she wouldn't need the food right away. They could wait a little until they got hungry.

“We can do that.” He said, immediately putting his things away before standing up to take her hand. “Did you want to watch a movie?”

"If you want to," she said and pulled her bag onto her shoulder. She took his hand and laced their fingers together. She didn't feel like doing much so a movie was a decent excuse.

“What kind of movie are you in the mood for?” He asked, after glancing back to make sure they didn’t leave anything behind before they began walking. “Unless you just want to use the movie as an excuse to have your way with me, Stronghold.” He teased, knowing that wasn’t the case for multiple reasons.

"Would you object if it was?" Fire teased back, a playful smile on her lips. It wasn't her intention but she wouldn't mind if they got a little distracted from the movie. "But I could always go for a sci-fi movie."

“For future reference, objecting is the last thing I’d be doing if you wanted to.” Francisco replied, chuckling and kissing her forehead as they walked. “Sci-Fi is good, I suppose.”

"If we watch Alien, I'm bored for the first two thirds if you wanted to get distracted," Fire told him, half joking but fully knowing he wouldn't be against the idea. "But maybe I shouldn't be rewarding you when you didn't finish your homework."

“I would need a lot more than two thirds of a movie for even the slightest bit of a distraction.” He replied back with a small smile before huffing. “I’ve being doing so well lately, haven’t I? I need a reward.”

"Even the slightest bit? I don't know if I should be offended by that," she said with a small laugh. "And you're right, you have been doing better lately. I could give you some sort of reward....but what do you deserve?"

“I meant to sound like I couldn’t do with just two thirds.” He explained, chuckling a bit because he… did word it strangely, he supposed. “I’m going to go with… everything.”

"I see," she said, laughing quietly because that she understood and it made more sense than what he meant. "And what does this everything entail so I make sure to follow through?"

“Whatever you want to give.” He replied, chuckling a bit as he pulled her closer. “But I’m only playing with you. I don’t mind when you’re being strict or mean with me.”

"I know that," she said, leaning in closer to him. "But I can be fun too, can't I?" She was a little worried about the answer. She actually wanted to relax and maybe have a little fun so she hoped he didn't think she was inept

Francisco stopped walking to look down at her, a little amused. “I suppose you can be, depending on what you’re in the mood for.” He replied carefully, taking her hand. “And I’m more than happy to do anything you ask of me.”

"Well what do you want?" Fire asked, looking at him for a moment. "You always say you'll do anything for me but what about you?" She appreciated that he complimented her strong personality but what if she wanted to support him instead?

“Right now? I want you.” He replied, pulling her in again. “And I will for a long time. But other than that… I don’t know. You’re the only thing I want.”

"Almost sounds like I'm unhealthy for you," she said but still leaned into him. She didn't fully believe him still, but it was a sweet idea that all he needed was her. And maybe she was wrong to doubt. His desires always had been simple and not complex like hers.

“I think it’s normal considering how chaotic my life was before.” He replied, brushing some red strands away from her forehead. “You’re the only normal and good thing I’ve ever had so I plan on keeping you forever.”

"I guess I'll only bring you the good chaos for the rest of forever," she promised and leaned up to kiss him. She had chaos too, but she had a feeling it was a different sort. A more sensible sort.

Francisco kissed her for a little more time before pulling back slightly. “You know… there are other things we can do than just dinner and a movie.” He said carefully, brushing her bottom lip with his thumb lightly.

"Do those other things include locking ourselves in your room?" Fire asked, voice quieter not just because he was too close to warrant a normal tone.

“Or in your room. I’m not picky.” He replied, giving her a teasing grin as he pulled away. He felt a lot more comfortable expressing his love and adoration for her now that he knew Vanessa would be okay with it. It was more… liberating.

She gave a small laugh. "Well your room is closer and your roommate doesn't look like my mother, so I think I'd rather be there. And isn't your roommate actually gone?"

“I’ve rarely even seen my roommate so I don’t know.” He admitted, forgetting who it was because he just… he was rarely ever there. Both of them.

"Then I think the odds are good that we won't be interrupted," she said and traced her thumb over the back of his hand. It was meant as it felt and she just loved watching every reaction he had like this. Maybe it was cruel except she had a feeling he enjoyed it too.

Francisco looked at her hand before he smiled, nodding his head. “Okay, so what about you grab our food and I wait for you there? To clean up a bit, since it’s a mess.”

"Sure," Fire answered, holding back on commenting on a messy room. She was.... kind of guilty of that too. "What do you want to eat? I'll grab anything."

“I’m fine with anything too. So…maybe Chinese food? We can never go wrong with that.” He said, giving her a half smile. He really did need to clean the room but not only because they’d be eating.

"I agree. Chinese food it is," she said and leaned up to kiss his cheek, nowhere near his lips. Then she pulled away completely because she didn't want to waste time. "I'll be back in a half hour or so."

“I’ll meet you there.” he promised, knowing what she was doing but it wasn’t like he minded terribly. He liked it when she was being coy and teasing like this, so why would he?

It wasn't until they'd all reached the common rooms that she finally addressed him. Marcie and Mavis only watched as Anastasia pulled off the sweater and, before he could stop it, threw it in his direction. "Don't follow me, don't talk to me, don't text me." She said, her voice cool as she stared him down. Finally, it was her turn to be angry with him. It felt like it was only ever the other way around. "I don't even want to look at you until every single one of your cuts and bruises are gone. So save us both the trouble and don't look for me." And with that, she turned her heel and went back to her dorm, leaving Marcie and Mavis- and Bolt, she supposed- there until her door closed. Not loudly, like she would have wanted. No, the last thing she'd want was to wake everyone up hours before school began.

Bolt did flinch when she threw the sweatshirt at him, but didn't shy away from her ire, even as her words hit worse than the sweatshirt ever could. He deserved it, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. He was stuck in place for a moment after she went, processing. There was no thought, not even that he would will his cuts and bruises better. After a moment, before Marcie and Mavis could think of addressing him, he turned and left without a word.

Not long after Bolt left for his dorm, presumably, Rowan and Blaze reached the common room. The air still seemed tense, which not even Blaze could deny feeling. Unfortunately, the boys knew nothing, even less than Marcie and Mavis did, so the situation was even worse.

Mavis and Marcie didn't know what to say for a moment, looking at each other before turning to the guys. "Not that we're forgiving you for the whole abandonment thing..." Mavis started, crossing her arms. "But we all agree that this isn't good, right?"

"Abandonment?" Blaze asked, confused. What did that even mean? "We don't even know what happened. We can't feel like this is wrong when....what is even going on?"

"What is going on?" Rowan asked, frowning a little. "Because I've never seen Bolt punch anyone that hadn't pushed our little sister to the ground. If this is that kind of situation, then what's this whole mess?" He waved around his hand at the hallways separating the previous lovebirds.

"You guys ran off without us." Mavis said, raising an eyebrow Blaze as if it should have been obvious. It was to her, anyways.  

"Anastasia was... bruised earlier. Bolt found out, and promised he wouldn't do anything without her or whatever. But then, when they were supposed to be sleeping, he went off to find the person responsible." Marcie said, wincing as she went to sit on one of the couches. "You know the rest. Right now, she feels angry that he went behind her back and went all macho. So she told him that she does not want to talk to him, and he went to his room."

"We needed to get to him before he could do too much damage," Blaze said in defense. They had to know that. Could they imagine how much worse the damage could have been if Bolt had been left moments longer?

"Okay this is definitely bad," Rowan agreed. Unfortunately, he had no idea how to fix it. If he was the expert on relationships, he wouldn't be this bad off. And he knew very little about half of this issue, so...he didn't have enough. "But what can be done?"

"We have to find a way to make them talk." Marcie said, nodding slowly as she started thinking of some way they could do it. "Maybe if we-"

"We can't get involved." Mavis said, shaking her head at them as she went to the fridge and pulled out a can of soda. "I mean, we can... but we shouldn't. Mostly because we don't know how they'll take it."

"We should just let it run it's course. I don't think either of them know what's going on either," Blaze said. "They're still navigating their relationship. We can intervene if it gets bad, but...I think we can trust them to work it out."

"I suppose that's an option too." Marcie agreed, although she was a bit hesitant. She'd never seen them act like this- even before they were dating and were arguing all the time. "Are you guys heading back to bed? Because I'm kinda craving waffles."

Blaze wished he could talk to his twin and figure out what he was feeling, but that option was off the table and had been for years. Even if he wanted to, he wasn't sure he could read this Bolt. "I could go for waffles," he commented, followed closely by Rowan's agreement. They could always eat.

"Make or eat out?" Mavis asked, since she wasn't going to make them herself but would be fine with picking them up. "I know the place a few block away is still open, and they have a two for one special. With milkshakes, even."

"Takeout," Rowan said, knowing the trouble of making waffles at this point. They would have to hope the ingredients were around or that the school felt gracious in giving them to them. But...it was still too much work. "You don't mind the rain?"

"I doubt we'll feel the rain when you two carry us out of here." Mavis said, raising an eyebrow at them. Was it easier to admit that she wanted to be zoomed out? Yes. But it was so uncharacteristic of her.
