FREE VF PICK THIS MONTH YAY KIALA!!!

Heather McFarlane (arachnapheria) | 15 comments I seem to be in the minority for not hating this book! Anyway, my question is: The brothers in the story are so very different, which do you prefer, Talvi or Finn?

My casting choices:
Annika = Allison Scagliotti
Talvi = Tom Welling
Finn = Jared Padalecki
Runa = Anna Kendrick
Hilda = ??
Sariel = Christina Hendricks
Konstantine = Alexander Skarsgård
Justinian = Chris Hemsworth
Nikola = Josh Hutcherson

Emma They had a Carry Poppins box in the book which I loved as a magical artifact in the world. If you could only have one magical artifact to use in your daily life, what would it be? I think I'd have to choose a portable magic teleporting device - I have to drive a lot and this would make life so much better.

Neohgirl | 68 comments If you got stranded on a magical planet and only had with you what you could carry in your backpack, what would it be? I'd want my Ipod for sure, with a solar charger so I could use it forever.

message 16: by Neohgirl (new)

Neohgirl | 68 comments Heather, I can get on board with most of your choices. I'd sub out Lucy Lawless as Sariel though - slightly older, long dark hair, yes? Allison would be absolutely perfect for it.

Magnesium02 | 5 comments One common factor among many races and species used in fantasy/paranormal novels is longevity - be it elves, fae, werewolves, vampires, angels and such.

So my questions are;

a) How do you think long-lived characters should behave?
b) How do you think you would handle a longer lifespan? (like you were born human but gained longevity/immortality)

Would you gain maturity or would you kinda stay juvenile for longer? Would you race through your extended life at the same pace as humanity or would you draw it out and make it last longer? Would you stay passionate and alive or would you succumb to apathy?

Shaitarn | 23 comments Do you think it would've been more of a romantic gesture with the rings if Talvi had offered to exchange his lifespan for that of a human's so he and Annika could have grown old together?

(That's 'offered' as in, they could've discussed it like adults instead of just "hey, guess what!")

Casey (casey_readingsomebooks) | 11 comments If you returned home from trip to a portal world, would you try to explain it to your family? Or come up with an semi-convincing lie?

Sarah (eadon_rayne) There are a few instances where the author had complete sentences in other languages - I believe they were mostly French in the first book, but I've come across one in German in the second. I read the first book without access to wifi, and couldn't check the Google translate as I came across them (and was too lazy to highlight and come back to it), but I did have wifi when I came across this particular one in German, and the translation came back with perfect English grammar. I'm sure you know that often, when you use Google translate, if the original language is grammatically correct, then the translation's grammar is slightly off, and certain words, idioms, and verb conjugations don't translate at all (which is how language teachers usually catch cheaters - they've forgotten to correct the grammar).

My question is for members of our club that actually speak one of the languages some of these random sentences were written in: are they grammatically correct, or can you tell that the author just put a grammatically correct English sentence into Google translate and copy/pasted the word soup/gobbledygook that came out?

Jessica (j-boo) | 182 comments On a scale of 0 to 10, how hot do honeycombs make you?

Did you have any guesses as to what the unicorn hair was going to be used for?

And how about a round of f*ck, marry, kill with Nikola, Finn and Talvi. Or Runa, Yuri and Annika, if you're into the ladies.

message 22: by Neohgirl (last edited Nov 29, 2016 06:55PM) (new)

Neohgirl | 68 comments Oh, one more question, inspired by Jessica - how mad would you be if someone stole your magical unicorn hair? The unicorn said SHE would know when to use it, not him. I'd be LIVID!

Matthew Kitson | 68 comments Would you try smoking pixie dust?
