Is it necessary to read these before CoHF?

No, I don't think it's 'necessary' that you read them before CoHF but it might help you some if some things that we think is going to happen actually happens.

Ummm not really but it does help you alot they start adding major stuff in CoFA

No, it's definitely not necessary. After all, this is a series Cassandra Clare wrote after she had finished writing one or two books of TMI. As CoHF is simply a conclusion to that series, I doubt TID would be required background information. I definitely suggest you do read it, though, because a) it's amazing, and b) Jem and Tessa from TID will be making an appearance in CoHF and you'll understand their story better.

With all the talk of Tessa being in COHF I think it would be best for anybody who didn't read TID to read TID before hand. Who knows Tessa just might be in TMI. Only a few days left can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually disagree. Clare is an expert at complicated plots. I read City of Fallen Angels without reading TID and I was slightly intruiged when Clare mentioned "Will" in a passage and he's one of the main protagonists in TID. And this time, two major characters in TID are going to appear in CoHF and if you don't want to get confused, I suggest you read TID. On the other hand, if you do start TID and then read CoHF, you might get spoiled for Clockwork Princess. Sooo....

I think it would be better to read the TID before CoHF mostly because, you WILL end up getting spoiled if you wanted to read TID eventually. There will most likely be alot of references to the events that occured in TID in heavenly fire.

so, no it's not really necessary, but I would highly recommend reading TID before Heavenly fire.

It isn't 'necessary' but I would, the plots tie together beautifully

YES YES DEAR GOD YES

I don't think it's necessary but it will help you understand some characters from TID that will appear in COHF.
