Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben - Nov. 2016 (Spoiler Zone)
This looks really good. I was able to borrow from the library right away. And I was able to get the audio at a reduced price.
I'm looking forward to this one too...this is an author I've never read, but I've wanted to try for awhile.
My library, in addition to Overdrive, offers "One Click Digital" - a selection of both ebooks and audios that are always available. It has a fairly limited selection, but this book is available there. You might want to check if your library uses this service.

Don't see that option at mine. I have some Audible credits saved - I may use one & try the audio of this book. We'll see.

I have it on hold on OverDrive as well but luckily i only have one person in front of me so hopefully won't have to wait to long to start this one.
I just hurried to my library to put it on hold. There is a long list for this book. Hope I can get it this month.
I'm starting this today. Since I'm out of town, I should get about halfway through by tomorrow during my road trip return.
Just finished reading and did not see that ending coming. Really enjoyed this. This is the first book I have read By Harlan Coben and think I might have to look at some of his other books.
I'm about 35% in now. Love the writing style - will definitely be reading more from Coben. An interesting premise, and a heroine who's different than what I usually read. Enjoying it!
This is now a spoiler zone. Please do not read posts below this line if you haven't yet read the book.

Are you talking about the audiobook narrator?

As I progressed through the story, I was struck by how detached Maya was from Joe. I wasn't getting a sense of her love or devotion for him and I kept listening for it. That's why her revelation didn't really surprise me.
Did anyone else have this same sense?

And although I didn't see the end coming, when I look back, most of the investigation she did was around her sister's murder. I didn't foresee the revelations we had about how evil Joe was though...that surprised me.
I was about 1/3 of the way through the book when I realized she'd never expressed any grief for him, nor was she questioning why he would have been on that nanny cam and not reached out to her. Her responses to the detective were really defensive and that set my radar off.
It must have been a subtle build up because when Joe's misdeeds were divulged, I wasn't surprised.
That whole family was evil.

I agree with you all about Maya never having any grief on the death of her husband. She never fits in with being a mother as well. she loves Lilly but only has random moments of happiness as being a mother. am so glad someone recommended this book as the BOM as I really loved it. the ending has also blown me away but all the signs were there all along of how she could not sleep and will always have the nightmares. I do not think she was capable of loving either Joe or Lilly. I thought Joe would be alive until she confessed she killed him what a vengeful family am glad they all got convicted. I felt so bad for Shane.
Susan, I didn't think Maya had very strong feelings for Lily, either. She seemed to be an afterthought.
I wasn't surprised that Maya killed Joe, even though I suspected for a moment that his body had been replaced. The more I got into the book, the more I suspected her. I WAS shocked, however, when Neil shot Maya. Didn't see that coming with the complicity of the whole rotten family.

I to thought about her lack of emotion towards Joe's death and towards her daughter. I wondered if some of it was due to the ptsd. I did start thinking that Joe was responsible for Maya's sisters death about half way through. Not sure why but I just had that feeling. That also made me suspect that Maya may have been the one to shoot Joe. I did not see the ending coming at all, especially Neil shooting Maya. Overall I really enjoyed the book.

MsG wrote: "Was she cold due to her military background and job? She liked her co-workers. LOL"
I don't think it was because of her military background, more her devotion to career.

Yeah, after awhile I was pretty certain Joe had killed Claire.

Went right by me:)

I just finished this one. Wow, what a shocking ending. Don't believe I've read a book where the MC ends up getting killed. I, too, didn't really feel like she loved Joe or grieved for him and I blamed her PTSD for her inability to really be a caring and loving mother to Lily. I didn't suspect she had killed Joe because when she wondered if it was possible that he was alive after seeing him on the nanny cam. I did suspect that Joe had killed Claire at one point since Claire was looking into the company for Corey. But I didn't think Neil or Caroline were involved. I did think Judith was involved somehow.
I never trusted Judith, either. She was so manipulative and her trying to get Maya into therapy at her practice was unethical.
Jonetta wrote: "I never trusted Judith, either. She was so manipulative and her trying to get Maya into therapy at her practice was unethical."The part where I was for sure that Judith was involved to a pretty big extent was the whole Will reading thing. She was pushing hard to get her there for it, told her that they wouldnt read it without her there, but then the next day when she was there for it there was the "snafu" with a death certificate so the will couldnt be read.
Jonetta wrote: "What's the relationship between the title and the story?"Not sure if this is what the author intended, but I think it was that her husband had "fooled" her into believing that he did love her and she believed his story about what happened to his brother. But she wasn't fooled a second time after her sister was killed.
