Phillip Sim In this book, called “The Shack”, written by William P. Young, many interesting religious beliefs and thoughts are discussed and mentioned. Although “The Shack” is claimed to be a non-fiction biography by the main character, Mackenzie Allen Phillips, whom the author wrote the story about, it is reasonable to see why many would believe that it’s false.
“Those who love me come from every system that exists. They were Buddhists or Mormons, Baptists or Muslims, Democrats, and Republicans”. This is one of my most favorite quotes in this book. What makes it feel so strong is that it proves all lot of what we as humans have been living for to be in vain and pointless. This includes the various religious conflicts between separate groups which has occurred throughout the course of history. Even to this day the problem exists. People are killed for their religion and beliefs, but to know that everyone is and has been connected through ultimately serving or seeking the same god is mind blowing.
The book is very unique as i have not read a book similar to it before. The content is about religious topics, which is a sensitive topic for some. And so, for a author to attempt to put a book like this out there is uncommon. But it includes a theme to learn literally on almost every page, and there are the type that one would listen to at a sermon. “The Shack would be similar to other books as it falls into the broad category as a self vs self kind of book. Mack is described to have many horrible problems, some which get very personal. However, as a result, a good reason to take time in order to read this book is to spectate and learn how Mack moves past his problems and overcomes them.
“The Shack” is overall a religious heavy book, and that itself can cause many people to dislike or love the content. People who enjoy to read about god and deep thoughts about the purpose of humans on the earth are mostly likely to enjoy the book. On the other hand, others may come to criticize the author as they can think its a fake story some old man made up. People who are sensitive on the topic, or just are not very fond of the religious concepts probably would not enjoy “The Shack”.

Marlene Banks I read The Shack years ago. Why did I think it was fiction? The author said he initially wrote it for his children in an interview I saw during it early release. Are you saying it is a true story? I'm confused.
