Indiana | 68 comments Hi everyone, There is a survey currently being conducted to collect ideas for the name for a YA literature award for Science Fiction/Fantasy books. I am part of the committee that is running this survey and collecting potential names for this award. This first round of the survey runs through November 15th.

We are trying to hear from a broad a range of readers as possible! So I would appreciate if you would take the survey and share it with fellow readers. If you have a book blog we'd really appreciate it if you'd help spread the word that way. And if you have any teens in your life - i.e. as a parent, teacher, librarian, relative, friend, etc. we'd really appreciate it if we could get their input as well as we really want to hear from teens and get their creative ideas.

Here is the link to the survey:

What is this award and committee part of? Each year the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS) gives out the Hugo and Campbell Awards at its annual convention, Worldcon. The awards are for the best fantasy and science fiction works of the previous year. They are presented for best novel, short story, graphic story, editor, artist, and a number of other categories. Thus far there has been no award to recognize YA books. A YA Award Committee was created to study the possibility of such an award and name it.

We are looking for an award name that is evocative of fantasy and science fiction. The name can be inspired by a concept, a thing, an author, or a symbol. We hope to capture the transformative and captivating power of books for young adults. So with that in mind…

If you could name an award that recognizes the year’s best YA fantasy and science fiction book, what would YOU call it?

If anyone has any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer them.
