Alea | 1 comments There is a girl, with two different colored eyes, one blue and one green. She was raised by a mean witch in the forest, and she/they made honey cakes. Somehow (I don't remember how) the witch dies and the girl is later shackled, bullied, and isolated by the people in the city she moves to. A boy helps her out of her situation. They go on some kind of journey together and end up falling in love. Also, the girl has some magical ability or magical sixth-sense, because a drop of candle wax in her bathtub gave her a "sign" that she was pregnant. At the end of this book, the girl and boy are separated which suggested there is a sequel.

The style of print and cover of this book were dated when I read it, and that was somewhere around 10-15 years ago. I had tried to track the book down a few years after I had read it, and found that it was out of print. You'd think after trying to find the book the first time, the title would stick.

Please, if anyone knows what the name of this book is or has any inkling to specifics, like names of people or places, give a much appreciated response. Thanks...

Tammy ~Witching Hour Reads~ (03tammy-lynn) I've read this, but for the life of me can't remember if it's one of the loosely based witch trails books or if it's just a witch book.
I will keep looking through my bookshelves to see if I can find it, it might take me a bit. But something Keeps pulling me back to Witch Child (Witch Child, #1) by Celia Rees it's a long shot.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Sounds like The Spellkey The Spellkey (Spellkey, #1-3) by Ann Downer-Hazell

The Badger, son of an unmarried tanner's daughter, is raised in an abbey; Caitlin, with one green eye and one blue, is a sure daughter of the otherworld. Abandoned as an infant and raised in the forest by a half-mad witch, Caitlin herself is accused of witchcraft. When the Badger finds her,(view spoiler) Their journey is precarious as they try to unlock the mystery of the Spellkey.

No response but this sounds like the right book based on reviews and summaries. Moving to Solved.
