Up to the end of Chapter 7. A lull in the gunfire (a well done scene setter with Ashcroft mulling over the Niger Delta on the drive to the MEND hideout ) and a dead man makes a scene stealing new - era speech. #CheatingDeath ?
Chapter 9, In Columbia. Cartels are gone but FARC still remains. Pity about the failure of that peace agreement in real life but as they say, you win some and you lose some.

“The NSA is under siege. The Pentagon is hacked and the same cyberterrorists control all White House communications. Are we the only three who have noticed this?” - The Benevolent Deception

Now that The Benevolent Deception has been out for two months I thought it was time I release new information about the novel, with my new video journal The Benevolent Deception: Pursuit across Kenya.
Much of the action in The Benevolent Deception occurs in the East African nation of Kenya. Many of the locations visited by Casey Irvine and Simon Ashcroft as they flee their enemies are locations I visited when I backpacked through Africa in the mid-1990s.
Africa was an interesting experience for me, my first overseas venturing as an adult. I was immediately addicted to the risky but enthralling lifestyle of independent travel in a developing country, where normal rules we Westerners take for granted don’t always apply. It was a real adventure, and so perhaps it is no surprise I set my first novel there. I hope you enjoy the video and find it informative.

Also making my day today, I now have 12 five star reviews of The Benevolent Deception in Australia, with this most recent review from Deejay:
“Can’t wait to read the next chapter as found this book impossible to put down even to have a meal, keep us guessing, Good as if in some ways better than the jet series.”

Did you know bull sharks are one of the few sharks that thrive equally well in fresh water as they do in salt water, and one of three species of sharks most likely to attack a human.
Everything you need for an action adventure thriller, right?

Alfaqri singled the dingy. They started the engine and sped off across the ocean.
Simon watched in horror as the rope coiled away, went taunt, and then he was ripped from the deck of the Spinecutter and pulled into the ocean.
He hit the water fast and went under, his hands out in front, his legs dragging behind. He turned on his back, pushed his head above the churning sea and sucked a lungful of air.
Then he bounced against a grey leathery shape dragging through the water alongside him.
They bounced again, and it thrashed.
Simon momentarily froze with fear. He had collided with the bull shark.
They were both being dragged through the ocean currents."
Coming soon, a prequel novella to The Benevolent Deception . . .

Very nice. This one is even more refined than the second lot, and much, much more slick than the original cover. My compliments to your cover artist.

The Assyrian Contraband is now available in print format at Amazon US and Amazon UK. I had been considering saving up my novellas until I was ready to print three or more in an anthology, and I still might, but I also thought there was no harm in getting them out in physical copies at the same time they are released digitally.

As for the Kindle or PDF ebook version of The Assyrian Contraband, well you can read that for FREE just by signing up to my mailing list. An email is all I need from you, no other identifiers required, for 70 pages of non-stop action and adventure on a tropical but toxic island off the coast of East Africa, featuring Simon Ashcroft from The Benevolent Deception.

You can also read my novella on Kindle from Amazon in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and all other Amazon sites.

In early 2015 I was approached by a Canadian publisher to write a James Bond novella.

That’s like, Wow, right?
CasinoRoyaleActually, no … not really. I quickly discovered that this wasn’t anywhere near as prestigious as it first seemed. At the time, in several countries across the world, the James Bond novels, penned by Ian Fleming, had just passed into the public domain. Those countries which honored the death-of-the-author-plus-fifty-years-until-copyright-expired-law included New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and many other smaller nations. I was one of several authors approached to write a Bond adventure for a Canadian imprint. It wasn’t the only publishing house doing so, because at that moment, anyone could publish Bond fiction providing it was sold only in countries where the copyright had expired.
I soon discovered that this exciting opportunity was far more complicated than my initial jubilation had suggested. The laws of the United States, the European Union and Australia (my home country) determined copyright to expire seventy years past the author’s death. This meant that anything related to James Bond remained the property of the Fleming Estate in those countries, at least until 2035, unless someone changed the law.
Looking further into the opportunity, I soon realized the situation was even more complicated. For example, anything that first appeared in a Bond film was, strictly, not public domain, even such things as Bond’s penchant for witticisms after the death of an adversary, Blofeld’s white cat, almost all the gadgets and even Miss Moneypenny’s flirting with James Bond. In addition to this, there were many continuation novels by other authors, which were not yet public domain either.

Hi everyone,
I've recently joined this site and thanks to everyone who has made me feel very welcome here.
I've recently released my spy thriller, action adventure novel The Benevolent Deception. Here is the book blurb:
'The Benevolent Deception features far-flung locations that are brimming with authenticity, centered around a complex and twisting plot that never fails to thrill.' - Rob Sinclair, author of The Enemy Series
Air Force One is shot down by insurgents in the frozen deserts of Afghanistan. The U.S. President is discovered dead, the victim of a successful assassination.
Or is he?
This is a question that only Peri Keser, the sole surviving, on-site Secret Service Agent, can answer, as she surveys the crash site minutes before watching a live broadcast from Air Force One, supposedly en route to Europe. Yet convincing her superiors that the Head of State is an impostor soon becomes an impossibility for Keser, as trusted global media sources continue to report the President not only alive and well, but active in office.
Half a world away in the polluted oil fields of West Africa, security contractor and former intelligence officer, Simon Ashcroft, is sent to protect Casey Irvine, a tourist with a secret that will change everything.
When terrorists, criminal organizations, police and military forces will stop at nothing to eliminate Casey, she and Simon go on the run. Yet their enemies seem able to predict their every move, and every minute becomes a battle for survival.
The game is changing, but the world has yet to notice.
