How do you feel when you abandoned a book you're reading?

After two attempts I've abandoned Tom Rachman's book. In the beginning it was flat and throughout the first few chapters it got worse. I don't feel guilty as much as I feel frustrated. What did all those critics see in this book that totally eluded me?
