Sunny (Jvke's version) | 1 comments My name is Kayla. I am 21. I am a college student and new here at GR. I love reading, music, and having fun. I'm here because I don't know anyone that likes books IRL, so I figured I could make some friends here! I have my own group that I started just for fun and you guys can DM too!

Jane De vries | 74 comments I've been on Goodreads for a few years and love it. Great for introducing potential reads, genres and, of course, The Seasonal Reading Challenge. Welcome Aboard!

✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧ Bini's Era ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧ (ninalovelylehman) Hello 👋🏽 my name is Nina Lovely. I am a dedicated bookworm ! Ever since I was a Mini Me , the passion of reading has been in my blood. Since I’ve been an adult, I have fallen out of love for my novelas. Early 2022, I’ve discovered Thriftbooks & GoodReads . With there two things, the fire that was once dying inside was reignited with a deeper meaning ! Sooo really here to make friends and join a new book clan

Emily Rawlings | 171 comments Hi my name is Emily, (readerboard name is EmilyGraceR), 23, and this is the first reading group I have ever been in so I am a little nervous I will get something wrong along the ay but I am looking forward to not only personal challenge but hopefully making some friends to discuss books with, as living in a small country town in Australia I am quite limited to the amount of people who read. I am a very fast reader and have read 60 books so far this year, I am scared of reading 500+ pages, an extreme extrovert and a gryffindor. If you'd like to get to know me better feel free to add me on here, bookstagram (shook_book_nook) or on tiktok (emilygracerawlings), I love making new friends!

Welcome Emily! Have fun with the challenge! I've found that the group has widened my book choices and I've found some real gems that I wouldn't have picked up otherwise.

message 1607: by Romaaanee (new)

Romaaanee Hello! My name is in Romane, I'm a 16 years old French girl. I like to read, obviously, to take pictures, to learn English, and I HATE drawing. Sometimes I have reading slumps but I like to be productive, so I get over them really fast. I will try to get active on this group, honestly it's my first time but I hope I will understand how all of this works :)
(I read mostly in French, but I force myself to read in English, hope this doesn't bother for the challenges )

Welcome Romane!
You are amazing if you can read in English too at age 16, but you can also read in French for the challenges :)

message 1609: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 1609 comments Bienvenue, Romane! You can read in any language. We have people who read in Dutch, Swedish, etc. Since I speak French, I usually read at least a couple books in French each season.

This group is a great challenge, even though very few of us actually complete the whole thing.

message 1610: by Dilan (new)

Dilan | 40 comments Hello hello, my Name is Dilan and I am a 27 year old Psychology student living in Germany.
Just recently I started to discover my love for books again.
Not only have I set myself the goal to read at least 50 books this year, I also have the ambition to participate in groups like this in order to gain a feeling of a somewhat companionship or at least community when it comes to reading because sadly, none of my friends or family members are really invested in the passion of reading.

I'm looking forward to the challenges here!
Tho I have to admit, I didn't quite understand fully the process…guess I have to read the guideline a few more times :D

message 1614: by Pinar (new)

Pinar Celebi (pinuccia) | 38 comments Hello everyone :)

I'm Pinar from Ankara, Turkey. I joined this challenge just today. My fav genres are literary fiction and magical realism. I read most of my books in Turkish, sometimes in English, very occasionally in Italian.

My fav book of all time is "Noone Writes to the Colonel" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

A random bookish fact about me: I read Noone Writes to the Colonel every year when it first rains in the month of October. I carry this book with me all the time in October. I was on a work trip in NY last October when I first came across rain and read my book in my hotel room in NY. I travel a lot for work and pleasure. I wonder where I'll be this October :)

Greetings to everyone :)

Whoaa, being able to speak and read French as a non-native is much more impressive than knowing English, French grammar is so much more complicated!!!!
But yeah, I have to thank books and fandoms for making me want to learn English and wanting to be as close as possible to the original text of books

Joanne (joabroda1) | 1555 comments Welcome KT-This is a rough challenge for me (have never finished, have not even got close-lol) But I love how it has made me be a more eclectic reader -I think you will have fun here. I do advise you to read the rules diligently, I think it took 3-4 seasons before I had a clean run without any errors

message 1621: by Truitt_T (last edited Nov 25, 2023 11:37AM) (new)

Truitt_T | 440 comments Greetings, everyone!

Late last December I got a Readerboard name. That was also around the time I started a new job, had a major mechanical issues with my car, and got sick with some non-COVID viral crud.

At that point, starting the SRC late seemed way to complicated and overwhelming, so I decided to play the next season. Except, given that I'd decided to try out a wide range of challenges in 2023, as each new season rolled around I seemed to be deeply mired in multiple other challenges already.

This time, though, I am prepared. I have a bunch of challenges ending, and the ones I have left are not particularly demanding. I've reviewed the rules (and even made notes) and have set up a spreadsheet to track everything. I haven't picked out any books yet, though - I'm not one to plan my reading very far ahead, which I know may not be in my favor for SRC.

I think this is going to be fun!

Welcome KT! I know you from the Audiobooks group as well as PBT. I joined this group partly because there would be no pressure, as there was no way I would ever finish it. But after a couple years, I now find I am about to finish my 4th one in a row. However, I don't think I've yet managed to do a whole season without any errors, that's my next goal.

message 1623: by Papa (new)

Papa Emeritus Hello, my name is Pauline, my profile name is a character I love from my favorite band. I am 22, and I have participated in these groups before, however, that was years ago, and I'm joining to get back in to reading, I've been an avid reader since 5th grade, well over a decade ago, and I love reading, I just haven't had time until recently. I am looking forward to the challenges and I'm hoping I can re-read/read many books. I know it shows this profile is recent, but I actually deleted my old account that had well over 10,000 books on it, to try and reorganize my self.

That's a lot of books. I could never delete my account but I do need to clean it out for sure.

Welcome to the group!

message 1625: by Šárka (new)

Šárka Vomáčková | 8 comments Hello,

my name is Šárka and I am from the middle of Europe. I am 27 years old and I am still fighting with the English language. It isn't common in our country to talk or write in this language so it's a challenge itself.

I loved reading a book as a child and as I was growing, I stopped for some time thanks to hard times. It isn't so long from my past, when I chose some other path, when I am coming back to my old hobby.

Now my most favourite hobby is watching Asia's movie's works. I love Korean and Chinese dramas and thrillers. But because I can't stay all life behind the screen I choose to go back to reading and drawing and other things too.

I hope that this community will help me to grow more fond of my old hobby and support me in my slow and fun way. I am looking forward to reading next to you all.

With my best regards

Šárka Vomáčková

Welcome Šárka!

I'm glad to have another European in the group - I'm from Sweden! I've found that a lot of people in their 20s have found their way back to reading this past year, maybe because of the growth of BookTok and BookTube. I'm hoping you'll find this challenge motivating and that it might also expand your horizons and allow you to try something new. Best of luck!

druid reads | 1 comments hello, bonjour, hallo + 你好!

I am Sydney, a 20 year old university study studying 2 additional languages from my mother tongue and linguistics. I was born and raised in mtl canada and speak 4 languages. I’m hoping to work in sociophonetics (that’s the dream). I live with my lovely long time boyfriend who reminds me of all of the hot book boyfriends because he stills treats me like a princess after 6 years of being together. My favourite past time is lighting up a joint and reading a good book. I would love to read and hear about all the books you all are interested in!

Cindy | 8 comments Hi! I am Cindy and live in Wilmington, DE. It's been awhile since I have done a reading challenge, but have enjoyed it in the past. Question- are the books listed on the bookshelf required reading for the Summer Challenge? Are they 20 point books? I have read through the discussion regarding the summer challenge 2024 tasks and notice that the 20 point listings do not have posts.

Hello and welcome!

The 20 points tasks usually get posted a little later than others, as the task creators can only be decided once the previous challenge has ended. That said, task 20.10 (Group Reads) is now available. Each season there's a choice of four books (they'll appear on the group home page), you only need to read one of them and contribute to the discussion thread to claim the points. That said, there's nothing to stop you reading the other three anyway!

Denise Hi , I'm Denise, a high school teacher in the Los Angeles area. I discovered reading challenges about 18 months ago and am hooked. I read about 70 books a year but this year am doing better, probably 80. Working my way through the rules etc, but as far as I can tell just pick the prompts I want to do, post what I read according to the rules, and if I want to I can earn points.

That's pretty much it. Read books, earn points or tickets (for big books etc.) and maybe be in with a chance of getting to create a task for the next season :)
