INTRODUCTIONS

I love reading and I'm always stuck with a huge too be read pile!

My name is Jessica. I currently live in Maui, Hawaii, but going to be moving soon, since the cost of living is getting to be too high for my husband and I.
I enjoy reading and have picked it up again this year. The last couple of years I have not done much reading, but so far I am reading a lot and hoping to keep that up. I also like to crochet when I am not reading.
One of my favorite things on GoodReads are the groups with challenges. Most of the groups I am involved in consist of mainly challenges. I may be a bit over my head with all of it, but it is fun!

I am single, 45, and the sole care-giver to my 82 year old mother. Reading is my escape. My other outlet is music. I currently sing with a Sweet Adeline Barbershop Chorus and a Harmony, Inc internationally ranked 5th place Barbershop Chorus. If I am not reading, I’m singing.
I read a wide – spread of topics but have found myself gravitating to fantasy lately. I have been a GoodReads member for years and really enjoy meeting and communicating with other readers.

My name is Kerahia. I'm from Dominica (not Dominican Republic). I'm twenty six and a mother of a nine year old boy. I wear many hats including being a student, full time employee, a youth ambassador in my country, youth worker amongst others.
The only time I have to just relax and breath, is in my books, in the secret worlds hidden within the pages. I get the opportunity to forget about my busy like and step into someone else world, a world where you dare to be different. Hence the reason why I am here, on goodreads, I can set my mind free in a world of books.
Why I am in this group, I am looking for a challenge, a motivation to read new books, new genres besides my comfort zone: Romance Novels.

Good luck, everyone!

I've been in a summer reading challenge/program mood, but haven't been able to find anything locally, so I decided to start raiding Goodreads groups!

I seem to have a severe addiction to reading challenges and this one looks like a lot of fun, so here I am :)
I especially love reading historical fiction, classics, epic and high fantasy, non-fiction books (memoirs, biographies, journals), family saga and in general books about books.
It's a pleasure to be here and I'm really looking forward to getting started!

My educational background is in psychology, so I tend to read a lot of psychology books. I also love fantasy, science fiction, classics, and anything else that looks good.
I am excited to participate in the challenges as well as meet everyone.

I have asked for a reader board name and looking forward to the challenges

I earned my Crone status last December (50). Let's see...Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Guatemala), artist, author, teacher. 1 fantabulous son... Living quietly in rural east US.
I've spent too much time on my roof in the last year. Got over my fear though! Old home repair/renovation is my nemesis.
I became a little bored in my reading last year, so this year I decided to tackle challenges & I'm glad I found your group.
My first was to dramatically increase my nonfiction reading (check). I joined & completed another challenge & am now participating in a monthly 10 book challenge. I'm going to dabble this season...learn the ropes & all...and next season - woohoo!
This is my favorite time of year, btw...

I love many genres. I will read pretty much anything that is well written and interesting, and I currently read in four languages.
Fall is my favorite season too therefore I am very excited to be joining the group right now!

My name is Meisje. I am 31 years old. I am an avid reader. This group seems like an intriguing way to incorporate different aspects into my reading and I am looking forward to being a part of it.

Favorite Genres:
Historical Fiction
Mystery
Thriller
Fantasy
Those are my personal favorites, but I will pretty much read anything. Can't wait to get started here!

..and yeah, you probably noticed the possible problem. I enjoy fantasy/sci-fi only. Anything else and I completely glaze over. But like I said, I wanna find out about new books and authors, but only in those genres. Is that alright?

have you tried Jasper Fforde

Mysteries (esp. 'cozies') are my favorites, but I like a little bit of everything, really. Helps keep things fresh. :O)

Can't wait to get started and back into the swing of things for reading. I've since moved house (downsized as we only have the 1 child left at home now).
So let's hope I can get back into reading :D

I always have a huge problem deciding what to read next, so challenges help keep me in the groove.

My name is Matisse, I am almost 23 years old, and the mother of a beautiful daughter, who is just as big of a book nerd as I am!
I love reading! I try to challenge myself every year to read different books and more books. This has always been a part of my life, and even when most 12 year olds were off doing things with their friends, going to the mall or something like that, you would find me in 3 different places normally; at the library, in my room reading, or climbed up a tree where I found a perch to read in.
As I have gotten older, many things have come in and out of my life, but reading has always been there. And as life gets more busy, the harder it is for me to read at the same speed that I was at 2 years ago. And I want to challenge myself to read new books and books that I own that I haven't read yet.
Challenges have helped me keep with my schedule and I am guessing that I will work just as hard, if not harder to keep up with the challenges.
Thanks to everyone who has put this together and kept it running, I am excited to participate!

I am 64, retired/disabled, married for 34y, mother and grandmother, I live in Colorado, USA.
I have been reading all my life. I have gotten really "sloppy" about it since the computer but am trying to get back into reading and expand my reading territory.
My usual choices of books are mysteries (esp cozy), biographies, memoirs, and autobiographies, non-fiction, historical fiction. I love poetry, especially Emily Dickinson, Catholic spiritualties and theology
I am trying to get into reading classics, modern lit. They are a new interest of mine, since some groups on GR.
Looking forward to being in this group.

I attended Holy Cross College and the University of Ceylon in Sri Lanka. I am also a Chartered Accountant.
As a Chartered Accountant, I worked extensively in Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
In Zimbabwe I also turned Horticulturist and grew roses, for export to Europe, in a metal, plastic-covered greenhouse of extent one full hectare!
I was also a Lawn Bowls player and took part in Zimbabwe National Bowls Tournaments
I am now an author and have written four books. My first book, “Sri Lankan and Zimbabwean Memories”, is a collection of autobiographical reminiscences. My second book, “Hernando Villa: A Sri Lankan Love Story”, is a novel. My third book, “Turmoil at the Villa” is the sequel to “Hernando Villa” and my fourth book, "Unsuitable Boys!", is also a romantic adventure novel with a Sri Lankan background. https://www.amazon.com/author/terrenc...

I live in Alaska. North Pole, Alaska to be exact (yes, it is an actual town). My husband is a contractor for the military and we plan to be in Alaska for the foreseeable future.
I have been part of Goodreads for a while, and have been able to see how much my reading has slid to the back burner. This is my first challenge, and like I said, I am hoping this is the jump start I need to get back into reading!

With two little ones, I haven't had much time to read (or have any hobbies, really!). As they get older, I've been able to find more time for myself, so I eased my way back into doing things for fun with a reading challenge for 2016. I read 50 books this year and got introduced to lots of new authors and genres I now love. Now I'm hooked on reading challenges!

My name is Giulia, I'm 19 and I'm from southern Brazil, so I'm sorry for the grotesque mistakes in my English that I can eventually make (I understand perfectly though). I'm getting into Goodreads now, so I'm still organizing the shelves. This group fell from the skies to me that since entering college, I study psychology, I have been very unmotivated with my readings. I hope to be able to resume my love of reading, meet many new books and make friends with other book lovers. I'm very excited to be here!

HI there! My name is Sarah although my username is Clutterbooke because there are a lot of people named Sarah in this world. I'm a software consultant living in Portland, Oregon. I've joined this group in an attempt to get out of my reading rut.

I have always loved reading, even as a kid you could always find me with my nose in a book. I like a variety of genres, but I mostly read mysteries, historical romance and historical fiction. I also read a fair bit of non-fiction, mostly about mountaineering, maritime disasters and English history.
I'm looking forward to talking books with everybody here!

Many welcomes to you Marie! Have you tried audiobooks? They have been a blessing to so many that can't read as much as they used to. :)
