My birthday is on Wed, but I'm not sure my age because it changes every day according to how I feel. Today is 42.I have 8 yr old boy/girl twins that I homeschool, A 20 year old daughter who has a baby boy due this week and a husband to support all my interests. I was a Pedi nurse until we moved to India but I still did volunteer nursing with charities.I have to keep a few books going at once. The main book I'm reading that goes to dr offices and bed. A book of short stories for the bathroom, an audiobook to read while I am driving and in the dark, A kindle to take traveling on airlines, a book I read to my kids each night and the cereal box in the morning. 5 yrs ago I set a challenge to read all the Pulitzers for Fiction and have only one left so I am looking forward to trying some of these new challenges!

I've just joined Goodreads, and found this interesting group. I've never participated in a challenge, but it looks really fun and I'll give it a try, see where it takes me.
Anyway, I'm from Croatia, I'm 25, vegetarian, love my bycicle (just came back from a trip by bike along the croatian cost) and i love books.
I like genres like mystery, horror, travel, fiction, fantasy, I love cooking so cookbooks are always welcome... and so on.. :)

Now a little about me. I am 33 years old, mother of two daughters 11 and 10. I have remarried and my husband has 3 boys 22, 19, and 16, we have been together six years. I am originally from Detroit, Michigan, moved to Pensacola Florida after my first year of college, I lived in Orange, Texas for a couple of years (ex was from there) and then moved back to Pensacola in 2004. Last November we moved to Nashville, Tennessee and I’m loving it! I work full time as a paralegal and kids at home and read during my lunch hour and before bed or as much as I can on the weekends, however, my hubby gets jealous sometimes and makes a comment about having my nose in a book etc.
Well I can’t wait to get to know all of you and start the Fall Challenge!!!!

I have been an avid reader since I was a small child. I try to read a variety of books, but I always seem to read the same sort of books. I tend to get my books from the library, occasionally purchasing the ones that I really want and can't seem to get from the library quickly, even though most of them are sitting on my shelf.

That's amazing that you are a "late reader"! Good for you! My daughter has dyslexia and couldn't read most of school years and hated it. Then something just happend when she started high school and now I don't know which of us reads more!
As for dh, Mine is not a big reader either and can't understand why I need more bookcases. If you are cooking, You can put your book in a cookbook rack and act like you are studying the recipe. You can also listen to audiobooks so you can "read" while doing housework or driving! Last resort, I still take a flashlight and hide under the covers to read so it won't wake him up! ; )
Good luck!

I am very much looking forward to be apart of the Fall challenge and cant wait to get started!

about me, i'm a 23-year-old a pre-vet student and i live with my boyfriend (well, now my fiance- we just got engaged last week and i am still not used to using that word, hehe), two bunnies and a big fat cat. i love to read, travel, cook and take pictures. i'm really excited to participate in the fall challenge and to get to know all of you! :)

I'm looking forward to joining the Fall challenge although I feel slightly confused about the posting and pointing system although reading all the rules, I hope i can get my head around it!

For the Seasonal Reading Challenge, 5 point tasks earn 5 points, 10 point tasks earn 10 points, etc.
(NOTE: There is a separate Reading with Style challenge that has a more complicated scoring system.)
I think you'll understand how to post if you look at the most recent posts for the Summer challenge in http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...

I'm 37, from Scotland and totally book obsessed-too many books and not enough time these days! My favourites are the urban fantasy books,Tudor related historical f and nf, asian memoirs but I've surprised myself with some of the books I've discovered since joining all these book groups.
I'm looking forward to trying out some challenges here.

Really up until the last year I hadn't been reading much at all. I always loved to read when I was a kid. At least up until high school when I found what I thought to be better things to occupy my free-time. Then, last summer I was kind of in a dark place in my life, somewhat depressed. And in response to all the hype about the first movie, I borrowed my kid sister's copy of Twilight, and I simply devoured all four of them probably within a week. They gave me a way to escape for a short time, and it helped relieve some stress. From then on I haven't stopped. As a kid fantasy-type books were always my first choice, which probably still holds true for me. However, I have been picking up other genres.
What I like about this "challenge," is that it gives you great ways to find good books to read that you might otherwise have never found or thought to read. I find myself yearning for a good book when I'm not in the middle of some series, and unsure how to go about finding one. I mean going to the bookstore or library is one thing, but where to start? How do I know whether I'm going to love it or not? I don't think that finding a good book will be an issue any more.

My name is Rochelle. I am 30 years old and have worked for the last six years as a middle school librarian in Georgia. I've long been a lover of contemporary and historical fiction. Recently, I've been reading a lot of middle grade and YA lit to better serve my young library patrons. I am always looking for new books to devour and I'm excited about participating in the upcoming challenges.

My name is Francesca and I'm joining the group for the first time. I'm a bookworm by nature and a recent law school grad that suddenly has a lot of time on her hands. So what better way to pass the time than curled up with a good book? I'm super excited to start reading books that don't have "Law" in the title again. The challenges sound like tons of fun. I already can't wait for my next trip to the bookstore!

My name is Erin. I am a 32 year old stay at home mom of two little budding readers. I love to read but have not made time for "Mommy" reading time the past couple of years. I am finally getting back to my old habits. I am excited to have a reading challenge and I look forward to getting to know some of you!

I joined this group because the variety of challenges caught my eye. In addition to coordinating some books I'm reading for other challenges with this, it's going to offer me a chance to broaden my horizons into other genres, some of which I've never read or haven't since school.

I used to be a prolific reader but life and family took over and am only now able to find some time again to return to books!
I fell upon this site last night and have spent quite some time already nosying around. This group really attracted me because of the challenges and chance to read books I possibly wouldn't choose for myself.
Am really looking forward to starting the Fall challenge.

Carla

That's awesome that you found a love for books. If you are really determined to read some great classics, look at the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list. There are tons of them. One of my absolute favorite books of all time is The Count of Monte Crisco. It's super long but it's a great read. Believe it or not, it was originally written as a children's book! Good luck in finding great books!

April Funny you mention The Count of Monte Cristo I have that on my list and fit it into a challenge I am worried about the length though approx 1500 pgs. I keep trying to see if I can rearrange to get the book off the challenge but at the same time I wanted to fit most of my to read classics into it. I'll definately check out that list! I went to a bunch of online classics lists to develop my personal list but didn't see this one. Thanks for sharing!

I'm Jenger and this will be my first challenge. I've always been an avid reader but the last few years, with my job becoming so stressful, I've pretty much stuck to light mysteries and chick lit as a means of escape. I'm excited to get started on the challenge. The tasks are a great motivator for me to add some variety back into my reading choices. What a great idea this challenge is. Thank you!

My name is Steve and this is my first challenge. I saw the group and couldn't resist joining. I am a 25 year old accountant living in Chicago.
I think this is going to be a great way to motivate me to expand my reading horizons and pick up some books that I might have otherwise never read.

I recently relocated from San Francisco to Reno.. "working from home" and stuck inside the house a lot of the time... I am 34,recently engaged, lawyer by trade. I have always loved, and continue to LOVE the smell of libraries, the smell of a library book, and the feeling of reading something so dang good that you rush through your day to get home and read some more. This has been a year of life changes for me, and I want to spend some time doing what I love - top on my list is reading. I needed some new suggestions, and I love this idea! I am looking forward to tackling the Fall Challenge.
