Hello, my name is Christina. I'm 35 and live near Boston, MA. I was really intrigued by this group when I came across it a few weeks ago, and I'm excited to participate in my first challenge! I love reading and discussing books with my friends and family. I currently work full time in Executive Compensation, but have often thought that my dream job would be Librarian. I'm Sue and I'm an avid reader. I guess that's probably obvious since I'm on Goodreads and joined this challenge. I'm always on the lookout for new authors and this seemed like a good way to find some, as well as challenge myself.

Hi! I'm Fran and I love to read. Like Dee I am a member of the Romance Readers Reading Challenge group and although pretty new at it, I am fast becoming addicted to it. This group looks like fun so here I am.

I am a Nursery School teacher but have taken a leave recently and have a lot more time to read. I have 3 kids who are all in school during the day, so that frees up some time. Once 3 pm hits however, it's driving time- to sports games, practices, brownies,etc. I have recently discovered audio books so now all that driving is much more entertaining.

I mostly read Romance- historical, contemporary, paranormal, erotic. I am open to explore different genres and look forward to lots of new recommendations and I love to see what everyone else is reading!

Hello! My name is Christine, and I am Virginian who currently lives in Katy TX (outside of Houston). I grew up 30 miles south of Washington DC, I attended Virginia Tech, went back home to Northern VA where I met and married a Texan who wanted to come home. So that's what we did. We moved here in fall of 2008, and while it's OK for now - I know I'm not destined to live in Texas forever.
I currently work at Texas Children's Hospital, which is both an amazing and heartbreaking place to work. I am fortunate to not have a slave-driver for a boss, so I don't have to work too many late nights or weekends:) I do, however, have an hour commute each way, so audiobooks from the library have really become the thing keeping my sanity on that drive everyday.
I love to read, always have. My favorite days in elementary school where the days when the new book order forms came (those little 4 page colorful paper brochures...does anyone remember those?) and I could get new books. My parents are both scholarly individuals (my father is a college professor and my mother just retired after 30 years of teaching) so reading was highly encouraged in my home, which only helped feed into my love of books. My parents never bothered to send me to my room as a punishment, as my books were there. It's hard to punish someone when you are leaving them alone with something they like:)
I was very excited to learn about the Challenge and am using it to clean off some of the books that have sat on my shelves for years and never got picked up. I suffer from book overshopper syndrome...I never leave a bookstore without buying something, and I always end up buying more even though I have unread books on hand.

Christine, I used to love those book order forms! My mom was always nice enough to always buy me something, usually whatever I wanted and then some extra stuff she picked out that she thought looked good too. Book overshopper syndrome describes me 100%. I love that you gave a name to it!

Hi everyone! I'm Jen and I live in beautiful North Idaho, USA. I'm an elementary school teacher who is currently a stay-at-home mom of 2 boys - age 4.5yr and 10mo. I don't currently have a lot of time to read, but every second I can steal I've got my nose in a book! The first place I went when I "escaped" from home after having my boys was the library. My reading passion began with Little House on the Prairie series. My favorite genre is fantasy (Lord of the Rings -ish stuff) but I like Paranormal Romance, Classics, Bios/Autobios, Young Adult, basically anything written well. I'm the president of a women's book club here and we've been going strong for 4 years now! We're mostly young moms and meet one night a week. No kids allowed (unless you're nursing *wink*) I saw book challenges in other groups that I joined, and was directed here after wondering where I could participate in a challenge that didn't require me to stick to one genre. So here I am, about to do me first reading challenge ever! Yay me!

Hello, I'm Liz. I'm just graduating from high school this month, but am alone with my baby more than with friends, and so I have been reading a LOT more recently. I'm talking one book every two-three days or so. I don't know what my favorite type of book is. I do read a lot of dystopian novels, and I suppose I prefer modern writing. Hi! I'm Terri and live in Lakewood Ranch, Fl. I'm 36 and I'm a bookaholic. I've just finished cataloging all my books and have over 1500, although after picking my challenge books, that number may just grow! I do work full time, but my husband is spending the summer in Europe with his family so I'll have extra reading time.

I belong to 3 book clubs, 2 that I organize through meetup, and one with my work. I tried to fit in my book club reads with the challenge where I could. One of my book club friends is always talking about book challenges, so I sought one out and found this. I have had a great time matching books for all the challenges, so all that's left is to start reading!

Hi all! I am Rachel. I am living in Dallas, TX now. I like to read, but only if the book is good and engaging. I have started many books that just "didn't do it for me," and I end up putting them down sooner or later.
On the other hand, every once in a while, I find a book that I love. So I guess I just need to try new books more often to search those EXCELLENT stories out.

I am doing the reading challenge, but I highly doubt I can finish even the entire 5 point list. I went to the library to pick up 5 of the books I had chosen, and my husband said I wouldn't even be able to read all of those books in a year. --- another challenge?

I am having a lot of trouble finding books to fulfill the first three on the 5 point list. Any good recommendations?

Rachel, if you can fit The Hunger Games somewhere in your reading list, then I highly recommend Catching Fire for Challenge #1!

Welcome Jane. I enjoy reading new authors too. Sometimes I forget though. As I was choosing books to read this for the challenge (also my first) I started using books I already read for some tasks. There seems like so many tasks that I just wanted to fill some slots and get some easy ones in. After I read my first John Scalzi novel I remembered how much I like discovering new authors, and that is the reason behind this challenge in the first place. I have found some interesting sounding books for many tasks (some that I would never have considered before) and re-tasking some of my previous re-reads for new books/authors.

Well the piles of unread books just get higher..... Currently I am reading "Slow Love," - How I lost my job,put on my pajamas and found happiness by Dominique Browning. She was the editor of House and Garden and in 2007, the magazine folded. Beautifully written. I am captivated by her resiliency and the changes that one must face when becoming unemployed as happens with downsizing etc. A great read.

I am Melissa and I am 33 years old. I am an English teacher, who loves to read and find great books to share. I just stumbled upon the Goodreads website while looking for a new title to bring to my bookclub tomorrow. I think I am going to suggust The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

I am motivated by challenge and this seems to be fun and interesting. Hopefully, I will be able to use some of the ideas to motivate my 7th graders too.

I usually choose to read fiction, but am currently reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

I keep a journal of the books I have read and when I finished them...hoping that some of them will count toward this challenge, if they were June/July titles.
