I'm Denise and I'm a 21 year old living in a small Texas town by the Mexican border. I had forgotten that I had a Goodreads account but now that I'm back, I plan to stick to it. I am so excited about doing the challenge. I doubt I'll be able to finish but love the, well, challenge of it.

Haha ...Thank you...He is a joy to have around...and loves books as much as I do...only he just cuddles up next to them.

I've managed to fit most of my March and April reading into the current challenge and will post my progress soon. :)

I think you will find an adequate amount of good reading material if you do the summer challenge. My first one was the Spring challenge and I LOVED it. It was so much fun coming up with books I already wanted to read that fit the different slots. I hope you enjoy it here as much as I have.

I love to read and am very excited about this Spring Challenge. Although I am just starting, I will do my best! I am looking forward to the summer challenge where I can start fresh with the rest of the group!
Thanks for starting this group!

I'm 58 years young, was born in Swindon, England and have been to at least 12 foreign countries and have been in all 50 states.
I have always loved to read, my Mom used to claim that I was born with a book in my hand. All the jobs I have held have been related to reading (except for being a shrimp cleaner in Alaska) or writing.

My name is Blakely, and I'm a recent social work graduate from Kansas City. My partner and I live in a tiny apartment with our cat and toy poodle. It's a cozy little existence.
I was thrilled to find this group after I had been snooping around TNBBC to see if they were going to have another summer challenge. Now I know there is one for every season! *nerdy glee*
I love these challenges, because I sometimes get stuck in a reading rut and they encourage me to branch out a little more. I certainly look forward to this summer's challenges.
Thanks!

I have been looking for a book club of sorts but love the concept of this one. I love the fact that currently "The Historian" is the pick as I started that book sometime a year or so ago and never picked it back up despite having read 10-15 books since then.
I am always looking for new genres to try, especially since having been turned on to the thriller genre thanks to one of my closest friends being a writer and recently published. So look forward to giving this challenge a shot - thanks for sharing this with the GoodReads community!

My name is Nicole and Im a librarian in Chesterfield County, VA. I'm 24 years old and happily married to my husband Chris and mom to one smallish orange kitten named Jack. We have just purchased our first house and will be moving in in 2 weeks!! I am a huge reader (no surprise there) and am looking forward to getting more creative to complete the challenge tasks. I mostly read young adult books, and am especially inclined to pick up fantasy. I am excited to join the summer challenge :-)

Thanks for all the work it takes to put this on.

LOL! Sounds like you fit right in, Katelin. Welcome!

I just recently stumbled across this group, and I thought it sounded amazing! I can't wait to join in the fun. Thank you so much to everyone responsible for creating and maintaining this place :D

My other hobbies include creative culinary pursuits, writing, beading, paper crafts, gardening, and fun types of exercise including dancing, pilates, and yoga. I also love the outdoors and extreme climates, so I read outside a lot.
This summer will be my first challenge, I'm looking forward to it.

My hobbies are reading (of course), playing the piano, crochet, and going for long walks. I also love cats, so I'm destined to be one of those old women who have three cats and knit all day. I probably read more manga than novels, but I don't like to count manga toward the challenges.
My favorite book is Labyrinths by Jorge Luis Borges. I'm not sure what my favorite genre is. I like to read books by recommendation, and I have a hard time separating what I think I should like from what I actually like.

My name is Aleksandra, im 29 and live in Rotherham, UK. Im Polish. Im mum of 3years old boy and again Im pregnant. I dont work so I have a lot of time for reading.MY husband is Iranian so my life is up side down with three languages and different life style :)
MY favourite books is "the solitaire mystery" by Jostein Gaarder.
I cant wait to start summer challenge:)

My name is Z, and I live in the Western Arctic, in Canada. I'm an avid reader and with 24 hour sunlight here, I have no excuse to close my book and fall asleep....except for work, really. Bah, that bothersome work!
Anyways, super excited to try the new challenge and I hope I do okay!

My name is Jess..I have been visiting the Goodreads website for awhile, but only recently discovered some of the awesome groups, giveaways and other things on here available in addition to just keeping track of books. I'm very excited to have found this group and am loving all the great book recommendations that come along with following the discussions. My only problem is that right now, I am spending way more time choosing books to read than actually reading! Looking forward to participating in the summer challenge!

Fellow cat lover/knitter here! I'm also trying to fit some Borges into the challenge.
Hi everyone else! My name is Jasmine, and this is my first challenge. I'm not a particularly fast reader, so I hope I don't totally fail at this!

Can't fail to have fun!

Very true! Plus, I love to see what other people are reading!

Jasmine, I like to see what other people read, too. Of course, that has meant that I've increased my TBR from about 6 books when I started doing these challenges to what is now in the neighborhood of 200 books.

My name is Celeste, I'm from Clarksville Va. I have a MA in English Ed and writing so reading is what I do. This is a great way to broaden my horrizens. I am currently part time at DCC and looking for a full time teaching position. Certified in English and Journalism. You we were always told teaching was a secure field. Watch out nurses...
I do have a question though. Can one book count for two things, e.g. I'm reading and author I've never read before and the cover has a beach scene.

I have always had a love of reading and getting my job at the library has allowed my love to grow and flurish. I am open to read anything someone suggests to me and I am always looking forward to hearing about a new and exciting book. I have really started to branch out in my gener of books as people have suggested books or I have meet an author.
I love meeting authors and always read what they have written before I meet them (or after if I did not know I would get the great opportunity to meet them!)This has helped my branching out in my book choices as well. I am looking forward to seeing what authors are on Good Reads!!
So I am going to try the summer Chanllenge and see how it goes. Hopefully I will beable to earn some points!!

I really enjoyed these challenges when they were part of the TNBCC group. I had a very taxing school year, so was MIA for a while, and then was distressed when I returned to TNBCC and they were gone. Very glad that I found them again.
I am starting with the Summer 2010 challenge. It will be a challenge indeed, because we are also moving across the state, so I am trying to complete it with books from my own collection. But, we'll see how well that goes :)

I've always thought I was a big reader....though after scrolling through some of the posts here, I'm feeling quite humbled.
I first set a reading goal in 2009 - my aim was 100 books with the idea that 10% of them would be non-fiction, I made it to 80 books, a little short of my goal but not too shabby....or so I thought until I realized that there were people reading that many books in 3 months! My goal for 2010 is 100 books again, though I'll just be happy if I beat my 2009 number.
I'm quite new to Goodreads (I've only really been active for a couple of months) and just stumbled on to this group. I'm really excited to start the summer reading challenge!

We don't have many pictures of me, so for a lark I found a favorite hero of mine from reading - Rex Libris, the tough-as-nails Head Librarian at Middleton Public Library.
(For the record, I believe that I look more like Librarian Flynn Carsen than Rex Libris. My wife may argue the point.)

I always have a selection of around 40 books to choose from, just because I'm addicted to buying/exchanging/getting books :)
I read all kinds of different books so there really isn't a special genre I prefer.
I can't exactly remember how I found this group, but I have a feeling that I'll be here often. this is just my type of thing, getting suggestions for what to read next, although I'm afraid my stack of books will only be growing with this :)

This is my first challenge and I am excited to find some new genres and authors to read. I haven't been on Goodreads that long but love the diversity and dialogue I've found here.
Besides reading, I also like to scrapbook and watch movies. Can't wait to get to know more of you here!

I live in Maryland and work in DC, where I am an officer in the Navy. My free time right now is spent pursuing my PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, so reading is my means of escaping. I'll read pretty much anything I can find and can often be found sitting outside in the backyard reading while my puppy plays!
