SOLVED. Town bitch returns in search of a painting left to her. [s]

Hi I am new here , but I have been desperately searching for a book with the following plot :
The heroine (considered to be the town bitch) returns to town after few years in search of a mysterious painting her relative left in her name . The town treats her like the bitch she was , including her half sister and the hero both of whom have been hurt by the heroine in the past . Heroine takes job as a maid at the hero's house and he humiliates her on all occasions as a revenge .
Still in order to save a crippled girl she loves by selling the painting , she keeps on going humiliated by her half sister taking it as punishment for her past deeds .
