ABANDONED. Regency Romance: Setting in London, England. I read this in the 1990s. Heroine and her father are archaeologists and she finds and returns heros son to him. As a reward he offers to introduce her to Society so she can find a husband.

This might be a harlequin romance. I know I read this is the 90s. The heroine and her father are archaeologists and she can't wait to get to a site in Egypt. She finds a boy and she returns him to his dad who turns out to be a titled English lord. Her dad has some misgivings about her returning with him to the archaeological site and so he and the hero decide she needs to find a husband. She goes along with the plans, but she has no intention of giving up her love of archaeology. Of course though, she and the hero fall in love.
