Melanie Derblich I pretty much flew through this series in 3 days. Lucky for me, I guess, that I didn't need to wait a year in between each book release. Will someone please clarify something for me: Injections given to soldiers? So basically they are given steroids to bulk up, right? When I read this in the first book, I was expecting some 'roid rage blow out on Aspen's part to show that this was some sort of government conspiracy; like they were training super soldiers. Did I miss something? Thoughts? Anything else you felt wasn't tied together?

Sam *Spoilers but you read the last book so you're good* I totally thought that too. I thought it was going to go the way of Divergent in the third book and the guards were gonna be under mind control. Right before the attack of the palace in The One she describes the guards looking around focusing on weird points on the walls, I thought that was the drugs kicking in and them going into autopilot I thought they were either going to be used to kill the selection girls (cause a lot of the rebels were pissed about the selection) or I thought it was gonna majorly twist and just go on a rampage on the royal family or everyone there (cause ppl in the audience were important ppl). Because the bad rebels wanted and end to the royal family so they hijacked the vitamins to make them their killing machines. We already know the friendly rebels were smarter than originally thought so it's possible the other side had the technology and means. I was waiting for those shots to come in but they were just roid or speed or something to keep the guards energized even tho it didn't sound like they slept that much and building muscle for the royal family.

Ilana i kept expecting something more complex to come out of it as well - and was a bit upset that there wasn't more to it, although it would have been predictable. really it was just 'vitamins' i think, or steroids that were 'safe' - although like you said Sam - there was a glimpse or hint that it was something more when they were staring off. i don't know - i feel like it would have been interesting, but again, i think that there was enough going on already.
