Hi! I'm minervathene on Habitica. Glad to have you here :)

I read mostly romance (all subgenres), some fantasy and science fiction, and at least 12 nonfiction books per year (I don't always hit that number but it's the goal). I rarely leave reviews or comments but I always leave a star rating for each book I read, if that's helpful in anyway to you.

Elena and Megan, I can't imagine not updating my lists :D
I always update what I'm currently reading, but I try to be careful how many books I add to my, already, long "want to read" list as it's then really hard to choose which book to treat myself to next :'D
I always leave a star rating too and have repeatedly set myself the goal of writing reviews for all the books I've read but I usually get worn out after a few days of one review a day and give up again. Perhaps I need to get started on that again
Feel free to browse my bookshelves (not sure if I put my settings to private) and message me if you want to chat about any particular book

I've started to do the same with adding books to my TBR now! (Recently did a lot of removals and it was a hard time, haha, but I managed to get it under 400 (finally!)

The TBR struggle is so freaking real! I feel like I sort of have a decent organization system now. I have my Fiction Looks Interesting list (which is just what it sounds like), books that look interesting but I'm not sure I really want to read them. I have my TBR Nonfiction/Classics list because they're more "reading this to educate myself and not for entertainment" type reading. And my Want To Read which are books I'm actively excited about reading. The goal is to review each list once a year and move/remove books as my reading taste changes.
The problem is that I already had a not very efficient system and going through those books and reorganizing them into my new system seems like the worst sort of torture.

I move books up to the top of my "Want to read" list based on whether I actually have a copy of it to read.
I really like your ideas, especially as there are so many fantasy/sci-fi series I'm interested in trying (as in; reading the first one in the series) but I may decide not to continue with it after that first one obviously. It's happened a couple of times where I read the first book of a series which sounded really good but it just wasn't for me. Then perhaps a list of books from series which I'm already invested in. My main issue is trying to decide which series I want to get on and read the next one in and finish some of them before I get into more. Not mention other fiction genres and non-fiction! :D

Oh, that's brilliant! I never thought of using the numbering system in conjunction with owning the book but it makes a face palm amount of sense. Thank you for suggesting it :)
Series choice overload is so real. The time commitment and the uncertainty of an author potentially abandoning the series makes it even more daunting. Especially when people tell you that a highly recommended series takes until book 3 or 4 before the series gets good. But the payoff for a good series as opposed to a fantastic stand alone novel is just so worth it. Thus we press on!

I am a Indie bookseller and live in the Swiss Alps with my Wife and two cats. Reading is my passion number one, but I also like cooking, writing postcards and watching movies & series.

I use to be mininatsu on Habitica. I have been missing the reading guilds ever since I left. Is there really a discord group and is still possible to join?

Hi! Yes, there is a combined Book Clubs of Habitica server on Discord, with a Book Lust presence. More than happy to send you an invite - can you message me privately either here or on Habitica (minervathene) and I'll give you the access link? (I'm not too sure posting it publicly is okay/a good idea?)
