I think it is for Gen 2 Paperwhite and above along with Voyage and Oasis.

So I got the update and was pleasantly surprised to find my book length dots have been restored! I think the darkness to the fonts were increased back as the list view is more readable again. I had a lot of complaints with 5.7.. update but this took the two major ones and fixed them.
