I read a book when I was younger and it was about a dog named Squirrel (I think). She ended up away from home and explores. She meets a dog named Star (I think) and they have a run-in with a car. I remember Star dying? I remember the cover to have a brown and white Collie on it. XI'm not sure. Thanks!

What year approx. did you read it?
it was a chapter book for young children. I read it approximately 2005, but it was not a new release. I believe that the dog also knows another dog named Bone?
The great escape by Megan Rix has what looks to be a brown and white border collie but published 2012, too late, and names don't match. Was it a new book at the time? I'll have to do some searching.
Oh sorry not a new release. How early could it have been published? Now I'm wondering if it's The Tuesday dogs.
