Well that is not what I saw in the preview . :)

Hi Doc! The artwork is very good but I felt the story was a bit humdrum. There are so many stories of police corruption out there but this one doesn't stand out from the rest for me.

Doc (docpersona) | 33 comments Erased, Vol. 2 A man is destined to correct bad things by being thrown back in time by a few minutes normally to stop whatever could be the problem from occurring. However after his mother is murdered and he is blamed for the crime his ability kicks in like never before as he is plunged into the past just before a number of kidnapping/murders happened possibly connecting events from when he was nine to his present day dilemma. Only time will tell if he ultimately finds and stops the criminal behind it all. :)

I hadn't heard of this one before. It looks interesting.

There is a live action mini series on Netflix too. So far I like the book better though.

Greg | 67 comments A new comic shop opened up in town yesterday. Judge Dredd, accompanied by the Joker, Harley Quinn, Halo, a Ghost Buster and other cosplayers, formally opened up the shop. Got two free comics - Runaways #1 (Halloween Comicfest edition) and Battleworld: Ultimate End #1 - and a free Marvel Legacy 2018 calendar. Bought a Warhammer 40K comic as well - Deathwatch (1 of 4 just out this month).

Read the Runaways issue and liked it - will look for others in the series!

Earlier in the month, I'd read 2000 AD, progs 2063-5, and indexed them for the Grand Comics Database.

I think the Halloween version of free comic book day started relatively recently but it is neat to hear about a new comic shop. I hope they do well. :)

With the Yen Press buy 2 get 1 free sale going on I have been getting some new manga so I'll be reading some Akane ga Kill! and The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan. :)

Thanks Doc! So do I! Their comics range could be bigger - they sell a lot of comic- or movie-related toys, models and other paraphernalia, which takes up a lot of space in the shop, so we'll see how it fares. There's also no manga as yet! But it's nice to have another place to go to and browse.

Christopher (Donut) | 8 comments Hey, fellow Crazies!

I got the Hoopla versions of Batman: Detective Comics, Volume 1: Faces of Death and Wonder Woman, Volume 1: Blood, after the e-mails that this group would be reading them.

Will there be a discussion thread? Or how do you like to "group read"?

message 115: by Damon (new)

Damon (drasmodeus) | 158 comments Mod
I am not really sure how a group read works. I try and read every book that cones up but I end up lagging behind a bit somehow. I have just finished reading rat queens and it seems to have gone downhill a bit.I have also been reading the new valiant comics because of all the hype on Facebook but I don't normally get really into super hero comics(apart from batman).

Hoopla FTW! Totally love Hoopla great way to get a variety of comics instantly!

I just finished Super Sons Rebirth, and freaking loved it. Of course, I am extremely biased because I love Damian Wayne. Although I wasn't a huge fan of Teen Titans Rebirth despite my beloved Damian being in it, the story was lacking a bit and haven't been keeping up with. But yes Super Sons was really good!

message 117: by Doc (new)

Doc (docpersona) | 33 comments I started reading Umineko WHEN THEY CRY Episode 6: Dawn of the Golden Witch, Vol. 1. The series is pretty confusing but the characters show some pretty intense emotional scenes (especially when the murders begin.) Logic and Magic collide in a giant game where a family become pawns on an island that is isolated by a storm.

I was a desire to keep up with this group's readings that led me to Hoopla, and of course I am a dedicated user now.

I also like Damien, but I am working up to Super Sons. I have been reading Grant Morrison's Batman.

I really like Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin and was pretty back and forth on his Batman and Son comic. I hope you enjoy Super Sons if you get to it! It's definitely not as dark as the other comics featuring Damian, but I loved it anyways!

Greg | 67 comments Re-read, after many years, Predator, #1 (June 1989), to do some additional indexing on this issue for the Grand Comics Database.

On July 5th, I also read 2000 AD, Prog 2066 (31 January 2018), which I indexed for the GCD.

eHawk | 2 comments Let's see.... I just finished up Doctor Strange, Vol. 2: The Last Days of Magic, which was pretty fun, though man I did so much eyerolling over baddies names! I also gave Heavy Vinyl, Vol. 1 a whirl. It was a little riot girl heavy handed. I'm going to dig in to Abbott and Rumble, Vol. 2: A Woe That is Madness this weekend. Excited about those.

Greg | 67 comments I've got so far behind in my comic book reading this year! Only read two 'progs' of 2000 AD (#2078 and #2079) that were published nearly a year ago! Will be reading a few more over the next week or so to catch up with indexing at the Grand Comics Database.

Greg | 67 comments Just finished Naruto (3-in-1 Edition), Vol. 2: Includes Vols. 4, 5 & 6, which was a fun read, but it has an annoyingly cliffhanger ending.

message 133: by Greg (new)

Greg | 67 comments It's been a while since anybody posted about their comic book reads so I hope this post won't be lost among the tumbleweeds!

I haven't read much in the way of graphic novels in some time - not sure why. Anyway, I thought I'd read a handful of graphic novels and Webtoons by Canadians so I can vote on my fave for the Aurora Awards. The first I've read so far is Thrall of Mirrors by S. M. Beiko, which is the third instalment in her Krampus is My Boyfriend series. I hadn't read the first two instalments but it was easy to figure out what was going on. It's a humorous tale of a teenage schoolgirl who had used a magical ring to summon the Krampus. Instead of the evil demon, she got a hairy teenage version of him who has little memory of his past life and nefarious acts. Instead, he's trying to fit in as a high schooler and be the friend/relative of the girl who summoned him. Meanwhile, other beings are trying to capture him and return him to captivity to pay for his past crimes. A three-star read for me.
