Train to Busan. Zombies on a train. Production value looks high, action looks intense. Will be looking for this one. Anybody else heard anything about this? Hopefully coming soon to any theatre near me or at least to disc or digital.

Thia (thial) | 133 comments I watched this just now on Netflix. It scared the fudge out of me. I normally avoid subtitles like zombie drool but I forgot it even had them 5 minutes in. It wasn't very gross, just terrifying fast rabid style zombies. It reminded me of the last 30 minutes of WWZ. I can't recommend it more highly, even if you hate subtitles, as it will take me several cups of tea to unclench

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments I watched Train to Busan on Netflix last week. It was very good. I gave it a rating of 8/10 on IMDB. It did a good job of showing the zombie apocalypse breaking out and developing.

Hmmm. Gonna watch it again. :)

I watched Night of the Living Deb on Hulu a day later. I enjoyed it for what it was, but it wasn't much. 6/10. Kind of a Shaun of the Dead wannabe.

Thia (thial) | 133 comments Night of the Living Deb didn't work for me at all. I like any variety of serious/ scary zombies but I just can't get into the comedy or warm and fuzzy ones. The only decent one I've seen in a while, aside from Train, was The Battery on Amazon. Sort of a male bonding road trip movie with zombies. I'd give it a solid 6.
Good zombie flicks are few and far between sadly. (Thanks for your free book postings Randy:)

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments My others top choices currently on NetFlix are Dead Set, Dead Snow, and The Horde.

Guilty pleasures are Wyrmwood, Rec, Zombeavers, and The Rezort. Low budget, but better than most low budget entries in the genre. Or at least they had a unique viewpoint.

Netanella | 2108 comments My latest guilty pleasure, low budget horror comedy was Overtime. You know it's cheese-tastic when a wrestler you never heard of is the main character.

Beau Johnston (beau_johnston) Cockneys Vs Zombies, Dance of the Dead, and Stalled were entertaining low budget zombie flicks that are worth checking out.

There was a mini-series called Dead Set that is worth watching too. It is about life inside the Big Brother house during the outbreak of the Zombie Apocalypse; but the contestants don't know it has happened.

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments Cockneys vs Zombies is now available for streaming on Vudu -- free, but with commercials:

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments Also, the classic Spanish "Blind Dead" series is available free on Amazon Prime:

Tombs of the Blind Dead (1971)
The Return of the Evil Dead (1973)
The Ghost Galleon (1975)
Night of the Seagulls (1976)

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments Rampart

I saw mention of this movie on a thread discussing Train To Busan. Reportedly by the same studio as Train to Busan and it's a zombie movie set in ancient Korea?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6927152

Lee Chung is a Prince of Joseon, but he has been taken hostage to the Qing Dynasty. He enjoys boozing, womanizing and gambling. He is also an excellent swordsman. His older brother Lee Young will succeed to the throne and brings Lee Chung to Joseon. He returns after more than 10 years. Soon, Lee Chung faces monsters that run rampant in the night.
