Combined before merge was completed

Somebody recombined a couple of books that I had separated for merging. I was waiting for the merge to go through and then recombine, but another librarian combined them before the merge was completed.

Should I wait and see if the merge goes through anyway? If it hasn't gone through by tomorrow, should I re-separate and try merging again?
