I'm glad that Nicholas told Olivia and she won't read the wedding thing in the newspaper or something before he had a chance to tell her, because that would have pissed me (and Olivia) off for sure. (hide spoiler)]

The fact that he gave up on the throne for her was little bit cliché to me, especially because he never asked if Henry would possibly like to marry a woman who's not suited to be queen and he now doesn't have a choice anymore, like Nicholas did.
