SOLVED: NA (I think), hero abstaining from sex at the start of the book

Hi guys,
So I remember this from a New Adult book where the hero and heroine meet for the first time at a party. They talk a bit and then the heroine goes in for a kiss, but the hero moves back, and it turns out he was abstaining from sex. I can't remember if the heroine was shy/insecure but she wasn't too sure of herself when he flinched away from her. I also can't remember the reason but my mind keeps throwing 'criminal' at me. And if it helps, I'm pretty sure the heroine says "I'm sorry, I thought we were on the same page" after she tries to kiss him.
Sorry that there's no real plot in here, but that's all I can remember.

Edit: i think she actually asks him if he wants to go somewhere private and then he rejects her, and she actually says "i'm sorry, i misread the situation".
