Thomas Everson (authorthomaseverson) | 424 comments Have any new/fun/interesting technology stories to share with the group? Let's talk about new technology! How about this one:

Real-life, full-size transforming cars now being built. Get cut off in traffic? Just transform your car and smash them to pieces. That'll teach 'em!

Thomas Everson (authorthomaseverson) | 424 comments Heaven forbid my 10 year old son, who is a Transformer fanatic, find out these exist. He'll flip. I already have a Decepticon logo on my car, and that's prompted him to name it Megatron, and every yellow and black Dodge Charger is "Bumblebee".

If I ever rolled up in an actual transforming vehicle he'd squeal with joy and probably name it Optimus Prime.

What a coincidence. Back in the late '60s Dodge marketed a muscle car named the Super Bee.

Thomas Everson (authorthomaseverson) | 424 comments Those are some nice cars for sure. I'm not entirely convinced it's a coincidence though. I'd put money on that the producing company purposely sought out Dodge, at least in part, to represent their character Bumblebee because of that name.

While I don't know if transforming cars will ever become mainstream, if they did I'd have to have one in the form of a muscle car like that.

No, Transformers didn't come out until 1984, according to Wikipedia. Believe it or not, the car was based on Dodge's "B" bodied models, and at that time cartoon characters, like Roadrunner, were popular. The name "Super Bee" apparently sprang from the fertile corporate imagination of the time.

Thomas Everson (authorthomaseverson) | 424 comments I do recall that fact about VW not wanting that. Honestly it wouldn't have done well with a Beetle anyway. Now Michael Bay's going to have another car brand to blow up in maybe the third movie of this second trilogy.

They need to build a theme park where you can get in one of these Turkish transforming cars and battle other people. I'd pay for admission to that.
