Kristen | 1 comments This was a fiction book about a women who discovers her husband is a killer after he goes missing. I remember specific points in the book, such as an opening scene where she discovers videos on her husbands computer after they are robbed and a secret cabinet/room in the garage. She discovers that her husband has kept his childhood home and goes there where she discovers that him and his father would torture women and kill them in the garage. She finds shelves of tapes as evidence. There is also some elements that this is a national/international crime ring of abducting women and torturing them and distributing the videos as a type of filth porn. I also remember the sheriff of his small childhood town being involved and the fact that he took over this "business" from his father. I can't for the life of me remember the name or author. I think it is a relatively new book because I remember reading it within the last few years.

Kristen, are you still looking for this or did you find it? Did you investigate Kym's suggestion?

Ingo (ilembcke) | 669 comments Ok, came out later (2017).
Main idea is the same, but starts differently than described.
Maybe a similar book, as a suggestion to read?
Stillhouse Lake (series) by Rachel Caine.
Stillhouse Lake (Stillhouse Lake, #1) by Rachel Caine Stillhouse Lake
So far 3 books published, 1 supposed to be published 2020.
Read the first two and really liked them, took a break, but already bought the third book and will certainly pre-order the fourth.

Link the Series on Goodreads
Highly recommend it, up-to-date with the social-media mentioned, hacking, etc. Also the tech described is very real, no errors (as a retired IT-Helpdesk-Slave, I can appreciate that).
For some reason I cannot remember, I did not write reviews, sorry. But both got 5 stars from me. The chapters in the books have different POVs, that I sometimes do not like, but in this case, it worked for me.
