I read because I love it, and because it's a great way to escape and be somebody else! Sometimes real life is boring...sometimes it's hectic...sometimes it's overwhelming...or sometimes it's great. It doesn't matter how it is, it's just nice to kick back with a book and get lost between the pages and forget about everything else. That's what I love about a great book, you can leave reality behind and walk on a rainbow or fall in love with a vampire...
To learn new things and general knowledge, to be inspired, to have a 'virtual adventure', escapism, to feel less alone.

Well..I do..I have severe ME so I do have to spend a lot of my time quietly as noise makes me worse and I only see 2 carers and my mum as I cant cope with much going on and also I am usually awake half the night..and if I am up to it I think that reading or listening to books is one of the best options :)
I'm sorry to hear that Sophie. I hope it helps to be a part of this group. We are always here if you want to chat or vent about anything or need a way to not feel so alone. I know it's not the same but I also have a chronic condition so I understand some of your frustration. I have fibromyalgia. Escaping into a good book is always a great feeling. Listening to audiobooks is my favorite!

I'm alaways open to a good conversation, talking about books, movies, or music that you can't get out of your head is even better. Sophie it sounds like you are a positive person and we all know the world could use some more positive people.
I read because I love it and I always have although I do go through cycles of being able to read a lot or reading some.
I read because I love the written adventures that the authors share with us. the world that they have seen in their mind. The glimpse of an author that you never thought you would know but know the world that they love.
I love reading because of the adventures of it all. And it makes me forget about all the problems of daily life. :)
I read because once I start I can't stop. There's nothing like being wrapped up in the dreamlike fantasy of a lifetime whether it be real or not.
Andrea wrote: "This sounds horrible but sometimes I read to escape my children. LOL"hahaha my friends say the same and they're the best of moms so I'm sure if everyone were honest they all feel like that from time to time.
Andrea wrote: "I have two boys. So some days it's worse than others. Although bedtime we read."Aw lol. My mother and two older sisters are fellow bookworms..and I'm just discovering my dad is a closet bookworm...haha anyways...
If my mother wasn't working I always remember her reading...we could be going out to eat...she reads...unless my dad is there he won't let her...it use to bother me so much, but now I find myself doing the same thing...ahhhh
When I am not driving, which is rare because I get car sick so I have to drive, I read if I'm not sleeping because I've been given something to make me sleep while someone else drives.
At the dinner table, I read. When going out to eat, waiting for a table I read. Sitting in the car when in the car pool line for the kiddo, I read. While cooking I read, mostly waiting for water to boil and the like.
