Read between 2010 and 2015. Was at least newish. Definitely after 2005 I think.
*Basically marking most of it as a spoiler because I only remember major plot points.
A teenaged girl in a forest village is learning how to weave in ways that magically protect (maybe also other uses) the villagers. (view spoiler)[ Her mom (Or grandma? Whoever the former weaver is) dies and the burial will be her first big weaving responsibility alone. She has to put the body in trees in a specific way with her abilities, but she fails and it comes back as a monster. I remember that the hands had blade-like fingers, but I could be wrong. She leaves the village to draw it away because it wants to kill her specifically and meets a guy and they run from the monster together. I think they battled it near a body of water. I don't think they ran into other villages or people while out on this adventure so the setting is just the one village and forest, and whatever landscapes they saw when out and about, though I suppose the love interest had to come from somewhere.
