How to re-order series

Hello,
I've been searching through threads for an answer and I apologise if my question has been answered and I couldn't find it.
My question: I'm a Librarian and came across a series that had the last books in the wrong order. I tried editing and putting in the new numbers but no effect. I looked through the manual and didn't find help on this.
Anyone who can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate!

The first question is why you are so radically renumbering it.

Hi, I was just trying to change 7, 8, 9 to match the authors website and dates in the books for chronological order series (ps I hit cancel changes so hope I didn't muck anything up!)

I think this may need assistance from someone more familiar with the series. I am noting that one of the books claims to be #11 chronologically, but the list only goes up to 9. Maybe this is due to novellas/shorts with decimal numbering?
