The River of No Return is a romance novel with time travel. I was expecting a time travel book with a love story. As I am not a fan of the romance genre, I finished the book reluctantly and with much eye rolling.
The book started out well enough. The prose was not stunning but acceptable with the building of the time travel plot and introduction to the main character. But then our dashing protagonist Lord Nicholas Falcott travels back into time and we meet the beautiful Julia whose deep, dark eyes have been alluded to numerous times already. The book goes downhill from there with unbelievable plot twists and romance, romance, romance.
I give it a reluctant 3 stars because it irritated me but is probably perfectly acceptable for what it is – a romance novel. I just don’t care for them.
