science fiction fantasy, no romance - approved

Kim (goodreadscomkimber) | 708 comments I have a bit of a problem. I spent a LOT of time finding 2 books that worked for this task - the non-romance caveat made it really hard for me to find something I was interested in. The thing is....I didn't calculate the page #'s properly before I read them and am now off by - THREE PAGES! These were my picks... Stiff The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach for option 3 (303 pages)and
If it Bleeds, it Leads for option 1 (294 pages).

I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to ask....can I get an okay from you for these 2 books - even with being short 3 pages? I could probably find another place for Stiff and start over looking for a second book 3 pages longer...but I thought it was at least worth asking before I go back to the drawing board again.

Thanks!

Dee (austhokie) | 9004 comments Sorry Kim! I can't make allowances like that!

message 56: by Kim (new)

Kim (goodreadscomkimber) | 708 comments No problem. I'm just mad at myself for being so stupid. Three pages! UGH!
I'm thinking of investigating what others have used for the sci fi/fant option. Maybe I can find more I am willing to read?

message 57: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 9004 comments Umm I'm going the YA route for my sci-fi/fant - but others may have some ideas

message 58: by Emily (new)

Emily | 782 comments Can I get The Devil on Her Tongue approved for option 3? She's barefoot, but I'm more concerned about the genre "romance" suddenly appearing on the page (it's not there as of now).

The Devil on Her Tongue by Linda Holeman

Dee (austhokie) | 9004 comments Looks good Kate - barefoot, no romance

Thieftaker (Thieftaker Chronicles, #1) by D.B. Jackson

Thanks

belay that - i'm not seeing Science Fiction for Golem and Jinni and it needs to have BOTH Fantasy and Sci-fi...

message 65: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (ladybugh) | 286 comments I took Golem and Jinni from your approval on message 12 for someone else. I guess SF has now moved off the front page.

message 67: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (ladybugh) | 286 comments Will do. :) I know how you feel!

I may read An American Caddie in St. Andrews: Growing Up, Girls, and Looping on the Old Course An American Caddie in St. Andrews Growing Up, Girls, and Looping on the Old Course by Oliver Horovitz instead? Would that work for the sports option.

message 68: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 9004 comments that sounds good! I see sports by 9 ppl; no romance ;)
