Timothy Alan | 3 comments This book was first Published in 1946 Written by Karen Horney, M.D. I feel this is important as a read, considering it being written by a prominent female figure of the time, she was a medical doctor.
It not only speaks of internal issues we all face, it also directly focuses on the mental state of a Man.
In feminism I believe that in order to be fluid with ideals, open for the constructive nature of equality, we learn that if the topic be feminine in nature, or Masculine in nature, they are indeed a direct correlation of one another.
For when we focus on the Neurosis of a man, what is to say it is not also an issue for a women, vise versa, in reading this book, as I have, I feel it will help shed light into why people act out based on their so called definitive roles, definitive being indicated by a standard of Society, if that is more modern, or if it be some ill, faced time and time again as generations pass, the ignorance ensues like wide spread yet ignored racism, or flawed yet sought after parental techniques. I would appreciate the serious consideration of this book and if you enjoyed my opinion, and would like to add me on twitter the username is Sadboy_Assassin.
I would Like to expand my community and broaden my informational basis with opinions from all over.

I am familiar with her debates where she countered Freud's theory's on inherent gender roles. She is I believed credited as setting the ground work for gender equality and feminism which came to prominence sadly after her death.

The idea now excepted that gender roles are social constructs not biological imperatives set the stage for gender equality concepts.

I would be interested in the current thinking on why this acceptance of the nature of gender roles has failed to counter the more sexist and discredited role based behaviour model still in place today.
