Hopefully everyone is enjoying the books for discussion in October. I wanted to get some feedback on how we want to get the discussion going. There are various ways this can be done. A moderator can start with a question. We can discuss chapters or subjects. A thread can just be started and let the discussion flow as it goes from there. Any way is fine by me as all of them can work. What does everyone think here...how do you want to proceed?

Only 16 days until October!

Just start and let people discuss the books. Also in other groups I've seen two threads-- spoiler and no spoiler. What do you all think-- 1 or 2 threads for each book?

Harold Kasselman | 19196 comments I wrote down multiple impressions of Shoeless Joe and a couple of questions. I'd like to post it at the appropriate time. I'd like to read other group members' reactions. But I also like the moderator question start up as well.

I agree with Harold. It is good to have the moderator earn his/her big bucks and prestige by keeping things flowing and organized. If things slow down, the moderator can throw out a new question to redirect things to something he/she thinks is important or just to get things rolling again. And maybe occasionally serve as the devil's advocate (such as: "if Moneyball is so stinking great, why hasn't it helped the A's win a freaking pennant"--that sort of thing).
