What about you, Sassafrass?

We were supposed to go down to Louisiana to see my husband's parents and to drop our kids off for SIX WEEKS! We do it every summer. It's good for the kids.
However, my FIL has to have surgery, so we're not going down now. So, I have no earthly idea what we are going to do. Maybe we'll barbecue.

Yeah, heaven. And we were SO CLOSE! LOL, my DH is still mourning the loss of "naked house". LMAO
It's pretty great though. since we're in the northeast, the summers are the only time when the kids gets to spend lots of time with that side of the family.

Yep, it's a big chuck of it. DH's parents want the kids from the time school lets out until it's time for them to go back, but I've drawn the line at 6 weeks. I want to see my kids at some point during the summer.
Although, having them this whole summer listening to them complain about their plans changing, I may change my mind and ship them down as soon as I can next year. LOL

I LOVE this series. Well, truthfully, I love just about anything written by Shelly Laurenston/GA Aiken. As expected, this was awesome. I'm just sad that this was her most recent book, released this year and now I'm stuck without for who knows how long?!

Ugh, yeah! LOL, we didn't start doing this until my youngest was 5 and we started with a week and built up.
I think that 6 weeks is a long time and I really miss them, but I know it's an experience that they will look back on forever.

I love this series, as well! And I can't find any info for the next book :(

Yeah, we went out to lunch the last time we were home and left Allison with my parents. We were both dying to get back to her by the time we were done. :)

I enjoyed reading this biography of the author's grandmother Lily Casey Smith. It was fast-paced and really interesting, even for a non-US reader. The stories were incredible, crazy. I'd like to re-read The Glass Castle now, after getting all this background information.

Just need the pages per GR on this post Carrie :)
Glad to see you here!!!

Brianne - could you please add a line on how the book qualifies - eg shelf or precis? Thanks :)

Theme: 8. Main character is a musician (singer counts).
Option 2 key date: 1 January 2014 - Happy New Year! (must be rated at least 3 stars, and you can't go back further than this 'date read' if you select from a team-member's bookshelf)
You must note how this theme qualifies in your selection post including a link to a shelf with a word such as 'musician' or noting that the theme is evident on the GR summary page/blurb/precis.
Words acceptable for shelf names are:
'Musician'
'Singer'
'Band'
Or their expansions/contractions.

Well isn't that convenient?!? Very nice. :D

Qualifies: (First sentence of blurb) - As lead singer and guitarist of the internationally renowned Souls of the Knight, Sawyer Knight is living a life most men can only dream of.

I know, right? It's like it was meant to be!

LOL, Shannon! I was actually going to choose something from someone's shelves but I read the blurb when Sassafrass posted and said "hey, why not?"

LOL, Shanno..."
If only the blurb said "Evan" instead of "Evelyn" I would be soooo on that book! :p

*puts hand on Shannon's head to see if she has a temperature.*
Repeat after me, Dicks not Chicks.

I know! But did you read that blurb? It sounds good!

You so silly. I don't have time to read DV books with the Hunt on!

Although I'm not a fan of either new adult genre or rocker romances I ended up enjoying this book. I read it in one sitting and it was a sweet romance, although there were definately things that made me roll my eyes, (view spoiler) . I especially liked the beginning and, as for the sex scenes they were nothing special.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

This was a sweet friends to lovers story with a rock star back drop. I have no idea what's been going on with me lately but I've been on a NA kick and I can't seem to stop.
I truly appreciated what Noah and Chloe were going through, not wanting to ruin their friendship with the deeper feelings they had for each other brewing. But, it so frustrates me when people who are supposed to be so close are so cut off from one another.
So, we literally spend 85% of the book without them being together and then everything is rushed at the end. GAH. I wanted more romance with my romance novel.
But, I was sucked in. I started reading it last night and couldn't stop until I turned the last page on the kindle this morning. So, the book definitely had its hooks in me.
I've never read anything by this author before, and probably wouldn't have if it hadn't been for a RRRC challenge, but I did like the way she was able to weave the story for me in such a way that I couldn't bear to look away or stop reading.
There will be a follow up to this story. I may check it out, but doesn't seem like this couple will be the focus and that makes me sad. I definitely feel like their story wasn't finished. Not by a long shot.

Rieview : M.j is a psychic medium, a ghostbuster if you will. In Demons are A Ghoul's Best Friend, M.J has been hired by her best friends family to help rid the private school in which their daughter attends of its nasty ghost.
So off she goes with Gilly, Steven the sexy doctor who's English is well not perfect and her trusty pet parrot Doc.
Unfortunately things do not go so smoothly for her. The Dean is less then helpful and this nasty ghost is not your average poltergeist.
This book has so much going on it. More twists and turns then I expected it to have when I first started reading it. It was rather sick and twisted whwn you sit back and think about the story.I can not wait to see what they have to face next.

Review:
Ruthie Robinson did a wonderful job in writing about the quirky, comical Carter Woodson, daughter of a wealthy businessman who totally embarrasses herself in front of a church full of people when she interrupts her former boyfriends wedding to tell him to be with her. Carter quickly becomes an internet sensation and becomes "Crazy Carter". To escape the embarrasement she flees to her family's ranch, where she seeks refuge and meets her hunky neighbour Rafael Garcia.
Carter begins to reflect on her love of the ranch and the horses that were her passion. Rafael encourages her to return her to roots and her love of rebuilding the ranch and following her dream of raising and rescuing the abandon horses.
The instant connection between Carter and Rafael is sweet and sultry and Robinson does an amazing job of painting a picture of this sweet romance and showcasing the love between the two.
I really enjoyed this novel and felt that instant connection to Carter, and she had me laughing on many occasions. I really enjoyed the way the characters interacted and how Robinson used comedy to lighten the mood. Overall, this was a great read and for anyone who loves animals, comedy and characters who are bit quirky would enjoy this novel.

I think it would have been a 4 star read had the whole book not been based on the fact that they were besties growing up because there just wasn't enough background information on their relationship. There was only the scene at the beginning and it wasn't enough to show their bond. Otherwise it was a good rocker who's really lonely-type story. Great smexing, no crushing angst with a fairly easy transition into being a gay rockstar.

I'm skimming but don't see a rule for NOT reading the same book and we've done it weeks past so I'm going to say you can read the same book.
Anyone know for a fact?
