the main male character had tattoos on his arms, bc at the end of the novel the little boy draws on his arms with his markers and announces to his mom that he's like dad now.

Hello, I read this book 1 last year, and I know the second book is going to come out/ has come out, but the thing is I don't remember the name , or author of the first book.
-The main guy character dies, and the 1st book ends with the girl character unexpectedly pregnant. And the father has died.
-in the epilogue , the female main character goes to the cemetery with her now 3 ish old son. Basically she watches her kid talk to the gravestone, telling his father about his day
-the closing of the novel is the main male character, watching his son, and girlfriend from afar. It turns out he did survive, and it's better for him to "stay" dead in order to keep in family safe.
-I want to reread the first novel, and start the second novel
-i remember when I looked up the 2nd novel on good reads last yr, i got to read an excerpt provided by the author
-in this excerpt, the short paragraph is told from the son's p.ov. Basically its the son asking his mom about lies, and white lies. It turns out the the little boy is keeping a secret. At night his father comes to visit him, and tell him not to tell his mom. So basically the son knows his father is alive, and at this point the only person who doesn't know is the female character
-My memory sucks, I remember all this but not author/title
-the main character was a business man/drug runner. He's in business with his best friend. The female character works for social service/ psychologist. I remember one of her patients, who is a 14 yr old boy. He wants a job and the male MC gives him a job, bc he sees himself in the kid. But wrong place, wrong time the teenager is shot and killed. This tears both the MCs apart. The male character gets his revenge by blinding the opposing mob boss
