Alyssa (girlcomeundone) | 63 comments Here is what i read:

The Outsiders 4 stars - i really enjoyed this book - easy to read and i can see why its a classic!

The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace: A Brilliant Young Man Who Left Newark for the Ivy League 3 stars - Maybe it's because i've read so many stories like this, but i didn't connect with this book at all. I felt like i learned a ton about Robert but still came away not knowing him at all - which is maybe very profound for the author to realize but not so much for readers.

The Dark Root 3 stars - i've been reading through this series because it is set in the town i am currently living, and many of the older books still feel relevant but this one felt really dated and the way race was handled made me uncomfortable. However, the mystery was well plotted and kept me engaged, so i'll keep it at 3 stars.

Kill the Boy Band 4 stars - totally hilarious, i feel like all of ONTD would love this. as someone who is still a huge Blockhead i can completely related to the characters here.

Christy (cmh85) Paper Girls, Vol. 1 really enjoyed it and the artwork was beautiful.

American Girls fast, easy read. Read it to compare to The Girls which I was underwhelmed by.

Anne of Green Gables my first time reading it. absolutely delightful.

The Handmaid's Tale also read this for the first time. I liked it a lot even though it was depressing. Can't wait for the miniseries.

Knobby (knobbyknees) | 48 comments I think last month every book I read got a 4 or 5 star rating. I liked everything I picked up.

Conviction - so well done, doesn't "feel" like a typical YA and has a wonderful, layered story.

Landline - sci-fi-y but not too heavy. I am torn on Rowell's work -- loved Fangirl but didn't like Carry On, was okay about Eleanor & Park. This book was an easy, good read.

Columbine - so much I didn't know about the shooting, and the book was compelling and also horrifying.

Saint Anything - I think this is my favorite Dessen (it's also her newest?)

Dreamland - I liked this one, even though it was sadder than most Dessens...

I'm so sorry I never posted this. I've let reading go to the wayside but I promise I will post this thread on time next week when October happens.

For now I've been plodding through the audiobook of Fates and Furies which is well written but sadly boring half of the time. It should be more interesting than it is because I know that she can catch my attention the other half of the time. I just wish she didn't have parts that simply dragggggg.

I read Fates & Furies earlier this year (not audiobook, just regular read) and I agree, some parts really drag. Overall it was good, though. Did you finish it? What did you think?
