Do you want to live a good life, with eventual job/family/home etc?

Do you want to live a life in submission to god, or opposition to god (fanatical atheism (while following or not following the previous point)?

Do you just want to chill and let the tides and waves of life drift you to wherever they drift you to? Flowing with the waves.... ?

Or do you feel that you have some interest that can benefit you and many other people in a practical way, and so can make you rich as well as help a lot of people?

Or do you want to live life just for yourself, like a hedonist? Having good times for yourselves, using other people just for your own emotional validation needs?

Or maybe your point in life is totally something different. A combination of the above questions, or something else entirely unrelated.

(PS, just for laughs:

What is your function in life

This career criminal (from the movie clip above) is obsessed with the question I asked. What's your perceived function in life.... it's a very important question in my opinion and shapes your whole quality of life.

But the guy in the movie (Great movie btw - Survive Style 5+) is a criminal who I guess is trying to find out the one great worthwhile true meaning of the point of life from at least one of the countless people he harasses to ask them their idea of what their function in life is. Lol, interesting character.

And another clip clip about this hardass killer harassing someone about their function. He judges that guys function as unnecessary and decides he has no reason to go on living. maybe because in his mind the guys function worked to make the world a worse place, (in the mind of a murdering criminal anyway) , so he has to die, according to the criminals fucked up moral code.

Almost all the characters in this movie are so weird, it's fun getting used to these totally wacky characters acting out weirdly in wacky situations. Like, of the 5 or 6 plots in the movie (all of which intersect amazingly) , the very first plot element is of a guy who kills his wife and buries her. She comes back from the dead, stuff happens and then they end up home with her making him food and he eats it. This is just 1% of the coolness of this Japanese masterpiece.

(Streaming might be slow, as this link is around 600 mb. I recommend if you properly want to visually enjoy this movie, download a high quality torrent)

The original OP question still stands. What is your function in life? It can be boring, dull, mundane, doesn't matter. That's the reality of life.

Thall (recantrecantrecant) | 599 comments Death, really. I just want to die but not through suicide. If something's going to happen naturally, why rush it artificially?

I'm waiting for death and using life as a distraction in my wait.

Genio., I accept that and respect that death is your dominant way to perceive life, or something like that. I'm hopeful that it evolves to a more positive perspective regarding death and the probable dissolution of your existence.

Amna.. that's something that made me smile. I hope you continue to evolve your functions in life and help other people :)

I want to perceive the inner peace in my life...

Can you elaborate on that Aakash? Like... what do you do and think to attain inner peace?

To live a life that is free of regret and to die with a clear conscience

Mohammad Sharif Aarpan | 1 comments To me a life free of regret resulting in bearing clear conscience can only be achieved and enjoyed when you share the pathos, deprivation and pains of those who have no one around to share with. That is the real purpose of one's peace of mind.

Belastbar 47 (belastbar47) | 8 comments Ahhhh... tough question havent figured it out yet . But realization has been dawning on me recently that my life should be full of passion and compassion . It should have that spark which drives me daily towards a goal rather than wandering here n there like a ruder less ship in an ocean. i should have something to look upto and something to look forward to rather than just going with the flow i want to be a flow...........

Arbaaz Khan (arbaazkhan1999) | 1592 comments Mine is probably hedonism. Not to use people's emotions though. I hate that. I used to be all "meaning of life" and full of theories and lessons, and they all taught me one thing, it's all bullshit. I am just gonna enjoy my life, for myself. Fuck logic, fuck responsibilities and fuck being morally correct all the time and fuck taking things seriously, now i don't take anything seriously. Now this lifestyle is something i have recently adapted so i am still getting used to it. I will go on a little soul searching when i am old or something but as of right now i don't give a shit much about anything.
