Graphic Novels: Do You Count Them Towards Your Reading Challenge??

Many of my friends who know about my reading challenge have said that counting my Buffy omnibus towards my reading challenge is nonsense because "all it is is pictures with scattered words". The way I figure it is that it's still a 300+ page graphic novel, and that is more than a lot of America will flip through in any given year.
Also, I'm nine book ahead of schedule. I feel like I deserve a break from the monotony of the black and white page. And putting my time into a fandom that I adore (god bless Joss)seems like it should count towards something.
Thoughts?

I say graphic novels count. I am a huge Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan and Buffy always counts. I read the BUFFY books and a lot of them are less than 200 pages. does that count? the graphic novels add the the rich in depth history of the Buffy verse and are wonderful to read. do magazines count? I believe they count. remember it doesn't matter what you read as long as you read. I guess what I am trying to say is tell your friend Buffy graphic novels DO IN FACT COUNT! best of luck on your reading challenge.
I ALWAYS count graphic novels and comic books in my reading challenge. It just shows that we love our stories in any format. Who are these people to judge?!
I do count them. It's a reading challenge, key word: novel! Also Buffy rules!
