Read Your Favorite Authors Name Challenge

um, ok. now, for the really FUN question--what if your fav author is someone like, say Janet Evanovich, who's name is forever long? :o) Not that she's MY fav. But I do like her. My favorite is Andre Norton, who I have been a fan of since I was a wee little mermaid many centuries ago. :o)Well, here are the books that I've read THIS month that fit the challenge along with the rest of the letters of her name.

If anyone needs an "M" The book Mall Purchase Night by Rick Cook is really good. You will probably have to buy it used, since it was written back in '92 or '93 or so.Basically out in Lala Land (AKA L.A. CA) a developer builds a mall right on top of a nexus that ties this Earth with Faery. And so people start seeing "things". A good story all around.

K--Andre Norton had her first work published in 1929. And her LAST new work published just months before her death in 2005. So she was around for a while. :o) She did mostly sci-fi/fantasy books, altho she also did a few historicals, some romances and even non-fictions.The movie Beastmaster starring Marc Singer was loosely (and I do mean VERY loosely) based on her book The Beast Master. Someone in Hollywood read the back blurb and turned a scifi book into a fantasy/adventure movie.
She's probably "best" known for her Witch World 1 books. Of which there are about 30 or so. She also gave a helping hand to many female writers that we've all read--Anne MacCaffrey being one of them. That generation of writers. There were others, which, I'm sure if I weren't quite so zombified right now I'd remember.

K--they are re-releasing some of her earlier books in anthology type sets--you know, you'll get book 1&2 (possibly also 3) in a single cover, then they'll release the next one etc. The Witch World books actually cover the entire WORLD of Estcarp. Some are set with the original family. The Tregarths, the first 2 books deal with Simon Tregarth and his wife, Jaelithe, the next 3 with their children, then after that it expands and expands. In addition to Escarp (the land that the Witches rule) there is also The Dales, Kars, and the Hounds of Alizon. Es, Kars and Alizon are all located on the same continent. The Dales are on another continent. There is also Escore, altho that land isn't re-discovered until the Tregarth children break the geas that has held for thousands of years preventing anyone from "remembering" that there is a western direction from Es. After that you get into all the other lands, and meet an amazing mix of people--human and otherwise. There are a few stories mixed in here and there. Then the last of the Witch World books goes back to Simon, Jaelithe and their children, as well as some of the other characters we've met in other stories. Some of the stories are better than others, of course, but I did enjoy them all--I go back and re-read them periodically. :o)
Um, I should mention--I have 6 shelves filled with Norton's books. Some books I have in multiple copies, because if they re-issued the book with a different cover I HAD to have it. I believe I'm actually missing only 3 of her books, and those 3 were all limited editions that have never been re-released. I even own the game (similar to D&D) that was based on Witch World.
Wow..6 shelves..Definitely a big fan.Going to check out the books now

OOOHHHH I saw that you read A Great and Terrible Beauty. I absolutely LOVE that trilogy! I reread it nearly every summer. What did you think of it?
