I click on the link.
The first author listed is Ruth Reichl.
Then some comments about her favorite books.
then a link "READ"
I click read and that brings me to a list of books - - if I choose this author, I have to read one of her books, and one of the books on this list. Is that correct?
THere are 5 pages of authors to choose from and this will change each month. So I'll have a new group to look at in June?
ETA: The answer to that is no...not 5 new pages of authors to pick from, just one author per month

any book by the author
any book by the author

Book 1 - RUTH REICHL - Not Becoming My Mother -or- Garlic and Sapphires
Book 2 - Recommended by Ruth Reichl - If the River Was Whiskey
Do I have that correct?
Lindsey wrote: "Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of the authors. Her featured work is actually under the name J. Lynn on Goodreads. Is it acceptable to read a book listed under either of these author names?"
Only if Armentrout is listed as an author (as she is on the featured work).

Yes you do.
I thought Garlic and Sapphires was a lot of fun to read - I even found myself wanting to eat stuff that I really can't imagine eating, her descriptions were so enticing.

Only if that's the recommendation of the first author. If s/he recommends a specific book, that's the one you need to read.

I am going with Alice Hoffman and reading The Dovekeepers and then reading Just Kids which she recommends and I have been wanting to read forever!

How funny - I'm also reading Hoffman and Just Kids - I, too, have been meaning to read it.

Awesome! We need to discuss!

I chose James Patterson (last page of list). I can read any book by James Patterson.
He recommends a book by Robert Crais. I have to read the actual book recommended not any book by Robert Crais.
Is this correct now?
(I had thought it could be any book by Robert Crais.)
ETA: Back to my question...the book recommended is for #11 in the Elvis Cole series. Could I read the first book instead?

For your second book, it does need to be the exact book recommended by the first author. So, if he specifically recommends #11 in a series, you can't read #1.

Sorry, Dee, this was when I was in the hospital and I missed it while trying to play catch up.
This book is REALLY marginal, since it appears to be basically a book for 3d graders. However, since it's on the line and has been used before, we'll allow it.

I'm choosing Jennifer L. Armentrout, and will read Half-Blood.
For the second book I will read either Losing It or Exposure, depending on which comes in from the library first.
Will this work?

thanks Sandy...my library only had 2 of the books she recommended in her section...

Any books by the author will work as long as long as they meet general SRC rules, and any of the books listed by the author will work, again, assuming that they meet general SRC rules.
These are not crowd sourced lists. This is a piece already written by the author, not a work in progress, so the list is not likely to change.

Go to Good Minds Suggest, a GR feature in which authors provide lists of their favorite books. Read 2 books:
A. Read a book by one of the authors providing recommendations in this feature,
AND
B. Read one of the books recommended by the author of Book A. If the author recommends a series, you may read any book in that series.
