2. I will definitely seek out more Chester Himes books. This was my first introduction to his writing, and I loved it.
3. Disliked Marge intensely. Favorite characters were his coworkers especially when they played the dozens on each other LOL
4. So many good quotes. This book is full of them... I will have to come back to this. Hard decision.
5. I hated the parts when he was conflicted about what to do with Marge. Anytime she came into the picture was disturbing. The writing was good, but the tension was nervewracking.
6. It was the best that it could be. It could have been much much worse.
7. I would definitely recommend this to others.

1. I read this one on my kindle (e-book).
2. This was my first read by Chester Himes. I wouldn't be opposed to reading his other works.
3. Favorite Character: Bob; Least Favorite Character: Madge
4. Way too many to narrow down to one.
5. The very beginning of the book was kinda slow to me, but it picked up quickly and I enjoyed it. Favorite part had to be the conversation between Alice and her friends when it quickly turned to bashing black men who like white women.
6. Ending was satisfying and profound. I think that's how a lot of minorities "enlisted".
7. I would highly recommend this book to others.

2 Nope
3 Didn't like Madge. Didn't really like anyone although I felt really sorry for Bob. I might've liked him better if he hadn't sounded like a rape apologist early in the book.
4 "It's just that white people is white. We're different from coloured people. The Lord God above made us white and made you folks coloured. If He'da wanted to, He coulda made you folks white and us people coloured. But he made us white 'cause he wanted us the same colour as Him. "I will make thee in My Image," He said, and that's what He done. And the sooner you coloured folks learn that, the sooner you understand that God made you coloured 'cause he wanted to, 'cause when He made us in His Image He had to make somebody else to fill up the world, so He made you. Not that I say coloured folks should have to serve white people, but you know yo'self God got dark angels in heaven what serve the white ones-that's in the Bible plain enough for anybody to see. And the sooner you coloured folks learn that, the better off you'll be." (this was both disturbing and eye-opening for me)
5 I hate anything with Madge, I wanted to throttle her.
6 Nope. What about Alice?!
7 Yep.
