R9: Team #8 ~ Don't H8te the Winners

He is a lion shifter and the shifter gene is unstable so on the cover he is morphing because the lion shifter gene is trying to assert dominance over the human part

could pass for a Zombie book, huh?

Book choice: Allegiance by Sussanah Sandlin (Pentonvillle Legacy, Book 4)
Read: June 11
Rating & Reviewed: ★★★★.
I like this one but not the couple. While it was Cage Reynolds book, this was really a transition book. The author introduced new supernatural creatures and abilities as well as crossed over with her Omega Forces series, see Storm Force. I don't like how the author abandoned the love triangle.
In the prior books, Matthias Ludlum (Will's evil father) was the enemy, and in the last book he was captured by the Penton Vamps. Aidan was offered a seat of the Vampire ruling council and Pentonville was considered an allie area.
In this book, someone rescues Matthias before his execution. the same person began sending flyers, troublemakers to disrupt the Pentonville's utopia.
Human residents of Pentonville was promised a peaceful town where they can exist along with vampires as a family. The humans had to be unvaccinated and would feed the vampires, in exchange, they were given jobs, protection and family.
Well the new enemy made it clear that there would be no peaceful existance and human feeders began leaving Pentonville.
Now the pentonville vamps were down to 1 human per 4-5 vampires, and the ratio could get worse if more people kept leaving.
The General in Storm Force sent a couple of Omega Force agents to help 1)find Matthias 2) find the source of the sabotage.
The agents had special abilities. for instance, Nick could read someone's past by touching an item they touched. Robin, was a bird shifter.
So with this new elite counter-terrorism team, the author introduced Shifters to this series.
Anyway, Robin takes an immediate liking to Cage Reynolds. Cage was still trying to resolve issues with Melissa from the last book, but this bold shifter had him intrigued. And at first it seemed like Melissa and Robin might arm-wrestle for the rights to be Cage's bedmate...but the author kept the focus on the sneak attacks on Pentonville by the unknown enemy.
But who was targeting the peaceful Penton residents and why? Also, what's the deal with the new shifters popping up in Pentonville? Herr Frank Geyser, a member of the Vampire council and a known opponent of Aiden, has some new plans in motion that will change the balance of power between humans and supernatural creatures. Matthias Ludlum was just a pawn, and Pentonville is just a small town he plans on crushing as he continues to his ultimate goal.
as you can see, i really liked this one. the author upped the ante by adding shifters, bird, cat and canine. We have a psychic who can read the past coupled with Hannah who can read the future. There is about to be an all out brawl in Alabama. I am excited for the future of this series.

Sigh. I always get annoyed with myself when I grab a book that's been collecting dust on my shelf for literally years and finally read it and really love it. Although that's less annoying then doing the same thing and hating the book and thinking I should have purged it eons ago. But anyway...,
This was my first Kathryn Kennedy and I loved every word. Yes I figured out who the bad guy was and what was really "wrong" with our heroine Felicity pretty early. But it was a very fun read. Excellent world building. I want a dragonette now like Daisy. There is a bit of sex in this including a graphic consummation scene. So someone looking for tons of sex might be disappointed and someone looking for just a sweet romance might also be disappointed.

It's seriously underrated. Katya convinced me to try it and I liked it. It's not overly complex, so it's a medium series compared to Kate Daniels or some heavy UF but not as light as Argeneaus which I just got book 2 on audio.
Amazon and audible always gave it on sale for around $1.99

Oh cool - a book I could listen to. I'll search Amazon a little later for this series. I need a good audio :)

Review:
Being the Enforcer of the Northern American werewolves is taking it's toll on Charles. Haunted by the ghosts of those he's had to kill, he is retreating into himself and closing the mate-bond with Anna to protect her. But our fierce Omega is fighting for him and she stands up to Bran to make him see the changes in Charles.
As a sort of distraction, they are sent to Boston to help with a serial-killer case. It is soon discovered that there is more than one person and they are using Fae and Witch magic to brutally murder Supernaturals.
Man, this woman can write! I love how she takes the supernaturals and makes them the scary monsters they are. Even with Charles on a leash, he's the baddest monster around. He's also very protective of Anna and tender with her. It takes time and the thought of possibly losing her before he starts to open up to her about what's going on with him but in the end they are closer than ever.
“Honor, duty, and love. He would not sacrifice Anna for his father and all the other werewolves in existence. Given a choice, he chose love.”
And that ending! Whoa, that was spectacular.
“I told them," he said in a clear, carrying voice, "that they should not give someone as old and powerful as I a daughter to love. That it would end badly.”

SQUEE!!!! I had no idea. Happy dance - well except that we have to wait a year *whine*

I should be finished my book tomorrow

These weekend shelves that are called late throw me off my Starter plan.
I'm going to take my kids to the movies later today so I'll check the thread when I get back

A) Call it anyways
OR
B) Go to bed now, sleep for a couple of hours, get up and call a new shelf, then go back to bed :D
Reasonable right? LOL!

I don't get why people would get annoyed with a shelf call coming early unless it's there's a bunch of teams that could possible get a bingo shelf called. And it's too early for that. It's not like there's bonus points or anything for finishing early near the beginning of the game.

The majority of the cover must be green or teal.
Remember, any cover of the book you read qualifies.

I don't have any green books on my June starter plan since I read

:(

Finally: one book:

Honor's Splendour"
One of my all time favorite romances. Loved this one but that cover is ugly as hell--Urgh!

Review:
Although I love this series I feel I may be experiencing series overload with the dark heavens. Some of the storyline a are repetitive and the interplay between human name, Chinese/mythical name and nickname are getting confusing as there are now so many characters and remembering who is who and how the relate to the story is getting difficult too but it may be because if the huge time between books. I will be continuing on as I really want to see how it all ends.

My weekend was too busy to pick a book. I'm about 50% done with my supified book. I was hoping this shelf would work with my Bingo shelf call - yeah - no luck. I have a couple of options - I'll decide for sure by tomorrow.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'orange/yellow cover'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
